This is the biggest question facing our team. The options seem simple. We can to make this year's team the best it can be or, look to next year and the future. What to do?

Ross was quoted in saying that we are closer than many think. Guess he missed out on watching this year's 6-10 team, aging and injured stars, and counting in new coaches and schemes. I'm not buying that but, it would appear that he somehow thinks Tannenbaum will turn things around this year.

I would like to see our team move on from Grimes, Wake, and Albert and get or keep younger and potentially better building blocks to have a chance of being a legit playoff team next year or the year after.

What would you like to do, and what do you think the team will do?

It's a good question. I think keeping around good veterans and leaders is important for the development of the young players. If the team lets too many of those guys go, it just opens up holes that will be hard to fill. Of the three you mention, I think keeping Albert is the most important because the offensive line is a huge priority this offseason.

Replacing Albert would probably mean having to go first round for a left tackle and I just think there are too many other options with pick #8. Wake is probably the most likely to go as I think the front office will prioritize signing Vernon. A lot will depend on contracts with Wake and Grimes.

The smart move (will the organization be smart?), is to find some low priced fill ins in free agency, but to put the emphasis on the draft and player development. That's what the good/great teams do. That said, the one position that I would spend in free agency would be guard. The Dolphins have to give the offense and Ryan Tannnehill a chance.

If one guard spot is locked down in free agency, I think the draft can concentrate on the defensive side of the ball. Miami has a chance to drastically improve the secondary in this draft.

Rebuild. The time to fix things to be competitive was when Sparano was fired. They had a decent defense, but lacked offensive playmakers to score TDs. Unfortunately, Ross hired Philbin who wanted to change everything. He did, and made a lot of personnel changes, and now the team sucks. Too many of Philbin's starters would be back-ups on a good team. Plus, the only part of the team that doesn't need upgrading is the WR corps. Philbin did not build this team to be tough and physical, and that is what is needed.

Yeah, I want to see a physical team as well. Sporano's teams were physical, but lacked at quarterback and in the skill positions. Philibin's teams were almost the exact opposite.

I want a team similar to Carolina's. I know it's a significant challenge, but hopefully the Dolphins got it right with picking Adam Gase. Time will tell.

Agree. I think Cam & Mueller did too good of a job in axing overpaid veterans and look what happened.

I don't think we can fix everything this offseason. If I had to pick we need to stabilize the O-line and add talent to the D. 8-8 maybe where we are going and it's an improvement. I personally don't want to see a big splash signing. I want to see solid above average players added. We have too many peaks and valleys from our top talent to the bottom.

The wildcard here is T-Buam. He blew up the underperforming and under-inspiring WR corp of Hartline, Wallace, and Gibson. "Progress-stoppers".

Agreed. forget the splash signing. The nuclelous of the Panthers team is outstanding 1st day draft in 2011 and 2012; Norman, Short, Newton, Kuchley, K. Mack, Remmers. Build around successful drafts with lots of above average players that buy into the team concept.

Some North, Some West. But I doubt we have many games east or south of miami :idk:

Exactly. It may be a three year fix which fans won't like, but that's the way to build. Carolina looks set up for long-term success. That's what the goal should be in Miami.

As an aside, what great drafts for the Panthers. No wonder they are dominating.

I think it gets worse before it gets better.
you don't fire your entire coaching staff in one season and then say were getting close.
hope I'm wrong.
