We have a lot of FA's and, I'm thinking that Hickey may let them all test the market unless he gets a VG-Great deal. He may roll the dice a bit with a couple but, could come up a big winner. There are none we have who cannot be replaced, and maybe for the best.

Everyone wants Grimes but, IF we can get a Verner for the same or less, he is 6 years younger, and almost as good.

We want Soliai but, IF we get a Joseph for a little more, he is 4 years younger, and a 3 down player.

Hate to say it but, no one is really worth bending over backwards to keep.

Let them test the market, and see that there are other players at the same position in higher demand, and then negotiate. JMO

Depends on how much change Hickey wants I guess. It seems to me that the 2014 Miami Dolphins are going to be drastically different than the 2013 Miami Dolphins. I'm just not sure if that is a good thing or not.

Completely agree, there is not ONE of Miami's FA they can not live without. It would be nice to have a few of them back at the right price, but not breaking the bank on any.

I think we have to keep one of our DTs, especially since our LB group is so terrible.

Why? They were VG last year but, we paid them $15M. That's like Franchise QB money for the two, and they may want more. Many dollars but, not munch sense.

Don't know either but, how much worse can things get? And changes are not always a bad thing.

IF not for age and money, Grimes, Starks, and Soliai would be great to keep. However, because of age and money, it could be time to move on.

IF I'm right on the cap projections going up, this may be the last year to jump on young players being available to this degree, and we had better take advantage of it. JMO

I dont want two, I only asked for one.

And what's important here is the big picture: being that our LBs (and safeties) are so weak, the DT position becomes so much more important in our scheme.

Miami will have Odrick for sure. If both Soliai and Starks leaves that's a lot of money left for another FA DT, with lots of nice DT talent in the draft.

I'm not for gutting our D line which was a team strength just to save a few bucks either
Resign one of them and draft a replacement for down the road.

The team was 8 and 8 and should have been in the playoffs. We need to add not subtract talent.

There is something that you won't get from stats and that's cohesiveness. When you lose that many guys at once you kind of get left with a team that has no identity. Soliai is a big locker room guy. Clemons was the leader in the backfield. Grimes was a stand out vet who is said to have taken the younger guys like Davis and Taylor under his wing. These would be tough losses and to think you can just plug that many new starters into a team and have the same or better success is not a sure thing. In one offseason we could lose the defense, which is our strength.

We saw what happened with the attempt to upgrade the linebackers. Don't do the same thing at DT. Younger and cheaper does not always mean better.

Our dline wasnot ggreat last year. Front 7 got pushed around a lot. Time to change things up.

Need to keep either Soliai or Starks. We know both can play and are good run stoppers. The problem with the run defense last year was the linebackers. We don't need to create a problem where there isn't one today.

I have to agree, I made a similar post on this same topic. Hickey may be trying to change what we had, and bring in "his" players. I love Grimes but youth and health is key. Would be nice to bring him back, but anything is possible, and Verner was great last year.
