Dolphins & Dolphins Stadium Assist In Hurricane Relief Efforts
The Miami Dolphins and Dolphins Stadium, in conjunction with DHL and Publix, will be assisting with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. The Dolphins and the stadium, as well as the entire NFL family, is fully committed to supporting relief efforts. The NFL, through officials at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Office of Homeland Security, has recommended that the best way now to assist the victims and their families is through cash donations to the Red Cross. Cash donations allow relief agencies to address the most pressing needs, including search-and-rescue, food and water, and medicine.
As a result, both at tonight’s game against the Atlanta Falcons and the Dolphins’ regular season home opener on September 11 against the Denver Broncos, collection agencies will be set up at all entry gates, giving fans the opportunity to make monetary donations for the Hurricane relief effort. Those donations will be earmarked for several relief agencies, including the American Red Cross.
In addition, for those fans who want to make in-kind donations for those affected by Hurricane Katrina, volunteers will be on hand at the Miami Dolphins Foundation booth in Sportstown, located outside of Gate G, to collect the goods. Accepted items include the following:
* Water
* Coolers
* Clothing
* First-Aid Kits
* Camp Stoves
* Diapers
* Trash Bags
* Blankets
* Ropes
* Gloves
* Duct Tape
* Batteries
* Extension Cords
* Transistor Radios
In addition, Dolphins Stadium will serve as a collection point for these goods on non-Dolphins gamedays starting tomorrow through the Denver game on September 11, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. each day, at Gate 3 of the stadium.
