Dolphins doomed for tough 2012 season according to Rant Sports

Let's make an agreement not to post "Rant" until they do something worthwhile

Here's a concept. Let's stop rewarding these idiots just because these mention the Dolphins.

Let's wait until they actually publish either something that's breaking news or an original opinion until we put their crap on a thread.

Miami has made the right moves concerning QB. Garrard will win the competition barring injury, leaving Moore as an experienced backup. Tannehill gets to hold a clipboard and learn how to be an NFL QB from the sidelines. Trading Marshall had to be done cause he's a distraction and not worth the money to lead the league in drops, especially in the endzone!!! Giving 96 million to Manning would have killed the future of this team and what if he gets hurt this year??? If we wanted Flynn really bad why offer backup money??? We never offered Smith a contract(thank God). This schedule is very favorable to make the playoffs and if we are better prepared early in the year, i think we win 10 games. No one really knows how we will play and that's an advantage we haven't had since Sparano was here. No more Wildcat on 3rd and 10 should lead to more than fist-pumping for FGs!!! Who thought we would win 11 games in 08???

You guys realize that is a Patriots site that wrote the article and it equates to being a step below Bleacher Report. Not sure why you guys allow yourselves to get caught up in this crap.

I like your post, but I don't get why Dolphin fans seem to think that Flynn was lied to or has not been impressive. Coach Carroll never promised Flynn the starting job. From the get go Carroll said it was going to be a competition and Jackson earned the opportunity to try and win the job. Carroll has always been about competition even in college as evidence by USC having what seemed to be 10 of the top rated high school RBs given scholarships when he was coach.

Carroll spoke to the media on a conference call Monday and said that he didn’t make Matt Flynn any promises about the starting job while courting him as a free agent. He’s not ready to make any promises at this point either.
Amazing that the Seabirds had a poor draft and are in a position to be paying a back up QB 10 mil guaranteed and that has not caught the national medias attention. Must be because Carroll was such a super star coach at SC :idk:

It's called cap management...at the time Flynn was signed Seattle was around $36 million (around there) under the cap and had the money to spend. Miami was around $5 mil under the cap. How management ever thought they were in the Manning sweepstakes is truly amazing.

That the Seabirds had a poor draft remains to be seen. There is the real possibility they got a pass rusher Miami would have loved to have opposite Wake and a QB that may be every bit as successful as the one Miami drafted. Hope not, but it is a real possibility. Throw in Wagner at LB and their draft may prove to be just as good if not better than the Dolphins.

In terms of value, Seattles draft was terrible and just because you have money available is not a reason to pay 9 mil per year with 10 mil guaranteed to a guy who may be your back up QB. That's not cap management that's irresponsible spending. It is as ridiculous as the thought of Green Bay franchising Flynn then trying to trade him.

It's almost like.....Hiring a head coach that has a track record of.....About .500.... Proven with two NFL teams.

But the Seahawks are fine.

That was good for a laugh - THANKS!
It is amazing how everyone forgot how bad Carrol was in the NFL because of what he did at USC.

The whole "failed to get Peyton Manning" thing is way over the top. Initially there were at least 10 teams that reached out to try to bring Manning to their team. Miami at least had a face to face meeting, the same can't be said for teams like the Jets, Seahawks, Chiefs, etc. Manning flat out told them no when they expressed interest. If Miami failed, so did Arizona, Tennessee and San Francisco.

Yes they didn't sign Alex Smith, but they never offered him a contract. In fact they decided to sign Garrard less than 24 hours after meeting with Smith. They did want Flynn, but not to be the clear cut starter or for starting money. Seattle simply offered him more money and probably more of a guarantee at the time to be the starter. Either the Seahawks lied to him or are not as impressed since Flynn is competing for the starting job with Jackson and a 3rd round rookie in Wilson.

I do understand the concern of trading of Marshall. Losing his talent created a big hole, and one that was not filled. Still though, two 3rd round picks is not horrendous value, though you always wish you could have got more. The one positive is that the west coast offense can help mask the fact that this team lacks a true #1 reciever.

Hard Knocks was never going to be liked by everyone. Having 90 people all like the idea was never going to happen. Doesn't mean that the team is going to lose games in the fall because of TV cameras in the summer.

This writer is right that the Patriots are likely going to win the division again, but Miami is not doomed for a poor season. Doesn't mean I think Miami will be great, but an 8-8 or 9-7 season is not a ridiculous prediction.

Not getting Manning was a blessing. I was appalled they showed interest in him. The only reason Ross wanted Manning was for show. He wanted Manning to fill seats at Joe Robbie stadium.
I actually think things went down pretty much the way they expected. I think Tannehill was a Dolphin even before he knew he was.
The whole QB chasing fiasco was nothing more than due diligence. Something we had to do in the position we were in. its amazing how Garrard was right there to be picked up. These were not coincidences. These things happened as Ireland planned for them to happen.
I for one am very happy Miami did not bring in Manning. I like where we are right now. I hope that feeling remains throughout the next few months.

Seattle drafted players that fit their system.

What is more irresponsible spending...a GM signing a possible franchise QB (by far the most important position on the team), who has been groomed by the best organization at grooming QBs for four years, and has had the best 2-game start in NFL history for a 3 year $8.67 million per year and only $10 million guaranteed when the team is $30+ million under the cap or a GM signing a "nickel CB" (Marshall) to a 3 year $5.33 million per year when the team had little cap room and then has to cut who has been the teams most reliable player in the secondary (Bell) to have enough room to sign draft picks.

John Schneider >>>>> Jeff Ireland....BY FAR

Seriously? Carroll has taken his team to the playoffs 3 years out of the 7 he has coached in the NFL and won 2 playoff games. Sounds pretty good to me compared to what Miami has done the past decade. And it isn't like Carroll has had superstar players to work with, yet.

Better yet, how or why would one even know that site exists?
