Dolphins double standard

the team has always attracted a lot of attention from the sports media world, mostly because of it's past success. then marino and his milestone records set, then JJ. but after JJ and that embarrassing loss to JAX in the playoffs the team pretty much became insignificant, until last season's nose dive, initiated by ricky william's "retirement", seasoned with rumors of reefer and lenny kravitz, etc...

as a team, the only attention from others was that of ridicule.

the dolphins being able to acquire the most coveted coach in the football universe has set off media chaos and has solely become a magnet to controversy / media attention. i think saban enjoys it. he wouldnt have it any other way. the fans are psyched with an unsual caliber of intensity and not just counting down to another NFL season with 31 other teams.

this one will be special. all of this can only end with a superbowl victory, maybe not this season, but most definitely coached by saban, whenever that time is.
we're a hot team that had gone cold and needed the right kind of flame under our collective rear. this post has already been too long.

...and this has what to do with the Dolphin's current policy of signing miscreants and felons?

honestly... i dont have a problem with it at all...

none of them have done anything too bad whilst under Saban with the exception of McMichael and Quintin Williams.

Williams got cut and Randy will be punished...

Elam's not going to make the team whilst Roth, Crowder and Wright are important players for the future.

Both Boston and Ricky have been to the Pro Bowl.

I believe that Saban will earn his reputation of giving guys a chance, and dealing with mistakes appropriately. Clearly some guys will make mistakes and learn while others will not, and will be moved on. Saban's reputation should be well established after a few more instances when people see what they cannot get away with.

Mark Duper was a crackhead as was Mercury Morris and others. Every team has problems, it's just the way it is.

EXACTLY!! 2 of the best dolphins of all time... who cares!!

I call BS. No way, no how do I think this is an honest response. Have you seen Cawana McMichael? I'm sure all 125 pounds of her just decided to start battering her pro-football giant of a husband :shakeno: I'm sure you would believe that Randy was justified in beating her back, too, despite the fact that she was pregnant and could have easily been contained without excessive force by someone of Randy's size

This is the exact kind of response I expected. As long as he puts up numbers on the field, they can do no wrong in your eyes.

What in the hell are you talking about? It has nothing to do with numbers. It has to do with people being responsible for their actions. No one is mentioning how Cawana needs to be responsible for hitting him. SHE HIT HIM. If my daughter is hitting a man over twice her size, I want to know what is wrong with her.

Plus the simple fact is that there is zero proof that Randy actually beat her. Unless pushing her down to get away from her punches is beating, or hitting her accidently when throwing her crap from the car is a beating.

You are just using the fact that Randy is a football player to cover up the bigger problem. They both need help.

If my daughter was dumb enough to hit a guy, I would say "it was mutual violence". My daughter should be responsible for her actions.

Wow I actually agree with you!

It doesn't matter how big a human being is, if they attack you they can harm you, they can put an eye out for example.

Self defense is self defense, a woman that makes the decision to physically attack a man first is subject to defensive violence back, and cannot attack and then hide behind her skirt.

Wrong, while I don't know the exact facts of this case, lets say she was clawing at his eyes, I would say hes justified in giving her a poke to back her off if thats what it takes to prevent being possibly blinded.

How big you are is not relative to how big your temper might be, I for one have never said he is innocent, I just think unless you know all the facts you can't condemn him either just because he's bigger than her.

Right. Randy McMichael HAD to defend himself by pushing down and bloodying the nose of his pregnant wife  I guess there wasn't a door in the house or any way out of the situation. I don't care who you are, you don't hit or shove around a pregnant woman. Sorry, but there are lots of ways to handle that situation, and Randy decided to hit back.

Did you even read my original post? Let me summarize for you:

1. The Dolphins say they want upstanding players yet they sign felons.

2. Fans don't care about the character of players as long as they win.

3. Fans are hypocritical in supporting people on the football field that they would never support in real life.

4. As long as fans continue to be hypocritical and uncaring about character problems with players, more of those types of players will be signed because they create more hype.

So far, everything that I said has proven true through the course of this thread.

he didn't bloody the nose of his pregnant wife. He gave his pregnant wife a bruise when he shoved her on her *** as he was trying to get to the bathroom to get away from her. When someone does not want you to leave, they can make it extremely difficult. What Randy did was the best thing he could of done in that situation, and people still condemn him for being a wife beater.

I don't care who you are, if you are pregnant you do not attack a man who is over twice your size. Makes me wonder how responsible of a parent this woman is going to be.

1. You can be a felon and an upstanding citizen if you served your time.

2. That is generally true.

3. That has not been proven by me in this thread as I would defend any man in Randy's situation. If you knew me, you would know that to be true.

4. Fans only care about winning. That is the way it has always been. Back in the day this would not be news. It would of been swept under the rug by the police and not made national news even if he beat the crap out of his wife.

So far nothing of what you said has been true though the course of this thread. The only thing you did prove is that you jump to conclusions and do not believe in due process.

My take on signing "questionable" players:

Unless they have drug and/or reliability problems that will affect their ability to play the game, I don't care. It's none of our business. We don't know the facts, we weren't there, we will NEVER "be there," and as such I believe we as fans shouldn't be so high and mighty about this stuff. We aren't the legal system. Unless we're going to start a crusade to go after every man that's ever been arrested to ensure that he never does what he loves in life again, lay off.

Or...

Maybe we should just go ahead and BAN all FinHeaven members who've ever been convicted, arrested (for ANYTHING), or accused of anything. Then let's BAN everyone who's ever used an illegal drug. Then just to make sure, we'll BAN anyone who's been in a situation that wasn't their fault, but just kinda made them look bad. We'll also BAN anyone who's ever slept with someone other than a spouse, or just kinda "gets around" in general. If we're so morally correct here, let's do the right thing and get this scum off our boards. Screw forgiveness! No one can change for the better! No mistakes allowed! Purge the infidels!
