Dolphins draft mistake

this will happen to every team at some position....what about the mistake the jets made when they passed on a guy named Dan Marino...of course, a lot of teams made a mistake that year by not selecting him.

Ozzy rules!!

Like 24 others, you can't say Baltimore made a mistake in taking Elway (even though they were forced to trade him). Marino of course went 26th

I remember Larry Shannon, he was decent on Maddenn 99.

Other teams passed on Tom Brady 198 times....they also passed on Zach Thomas over 100 times.

You could do this all day with any team really.

Funny story about that....I read "The GM" which is a book about Ernie Accorsi, who was most recently the Giants GM.

He was the GM in Balitmore when they drafted Elway....and he was playing hardball with him, and was on the cusp of being able to make a deal with him, when Art Modell chickened out at the idea of paying him all that money and traded him to Denver for some spare parts and some draft picks.

Shortly after that, the Colts had to move to Indianapolis in the middle of the night.

If Modell has listened to Accorsi, they could have signed Elway and the Colts would still be in Baltimore.

Anyways, if you're a football junkie (as I'm sure most of us are) you should definitely get your hands on a copy of that book. I read it in a day and a half....couldn't put it down.

Jimmy Johnson said that Larry Shannon was Randy Moss without the character issues.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

The funny thing about hindsight being 20/20 is after every wanny pick all the fans knew they were bad picks. I dont understand how we could draft eddie moore instead of anquan boldin, you don't need to see into the future to know thats who you should of drafted, you need something called a brain!! But yea looking back and hind sight beings 20/20 every1's made some giant draft errors unfortunately for us most teams have a coach that bats higher than 0% on draft day(wanny)

Wouldnt have really made a difference if we dont ahev a QB to get him the ball or an OL to help get the QB to get the ball to him.

I dont take much thought into articles like this. Although they are fun to read and talk about, the stage has to be set for players to succeed. I dont believe that any one player can do it by themselves. Unless you are Dan Marino... But then again, he obviously needed some more help or he would have a ring.

How good would Randy Moss be on a team with a Jay fiedler who couldnt throw the ball as far as Daunte Culpepper, and didnt have the saem scrambling abilities. Probably not as good..

How good would Chris Chambers be on a PAtriots team with Tom Brady throwing him the ball. Probably pretty damn good.. Oh wait, Al la Wes Welker

I didnt realize Freddie Mitchell and Reggie Wayne are that old. 1991??????Give me a break. Who proof reads this crap?

Forget about Eddie Moore, the one I can't forgive him for is passing on Drew Brees in favor of Jamar Fletcher.

I also love the explanation about how "their research showed that you have to take a 1st round CB in order to get a good one"
When they had two great guys on the roster, Madison and Surtain, who were 2nd round picks.

QB was our biggest need, CB was our biggest strength, and he takes a friggin CB.
