Dolphin's Draft Needs

The article talks about possibly taking Brodie Croyle in the 2nd round. That's about 3 rounds too early for Croyle.

I hope those positions aren't supposed to be listed in order of most pressing need. GACK!

What's the Knock on Croyle, I've seen parts of a few games, didn't look to bad.

I agree with the sentiment behind most of those. We will be looking at OLBs, NTs, QBs, and possibly OTs although it sure does sound like Houck has genuinely high hopes for Anthony Alabi...which may seem questionable to many of us, but considering what Houck has done in just one year with this OL I think he deserves respect and if he says he doesn't need us to draft a top OT prospect then by god, I'm not drafting one.

He has earned the ability to make personnel decisions in this regard, whereas for instance if Scott Linehan comes to me and says hey there's this QB that could run our offense easy, I would be looking at him very doubtfully...

Chad Greenway and Haloti Ngata are two guys who will probably be in the mix for our Round 1 pick, and maybe a QB too...not sure which or even if one becomes available.

Perhaps a dream situation for me would be Haloti Ngata in round 1, Jay Cutler in round 2, and Bobby Carpenter in round 3.

I thought Carey was a beter pass blocker than run blocker. ??

I agree with them for the most part. I think Seth McKinney has finally shown he can be a solid center though and with Wade Smith coming back next year I don't know that C is a need. I think CB is though and that was left out.

I have to agree with you there. That would be totally ideal. I seriously doubt any of us would be too disappointed with that.

I'm not big on Cutler like most people are after they seen him vs Florida, and I think he goes rd 1 after a strong combine. Linehan gets alot of hate from this site, but nobody discredits any of the coaches on the defensive side of the ball. I realize most people must've been huge Wannstedt fans because that's the kinda offense they want to run, but I think Linehan is a good coach, and once he gets an above average Qb the offense will be very dangerous. I don't see the team going LT in the 1st rd anyways, but when Ahmad Brooks is healthy he is an absolute beast on the football field. If he was healthy all season he would have been the 1st LB taken, but now unless something drastic happens I think Hawk has that wrapped up.

I thought that was an interesting read about Alabi as well, how Houck personally went out and scouted him and brought him in. Sounds like he's doing everything they asked of him and is eager to play. Wouldn't it be great if he does turn out to be out LT of the future. Just curious why it is questionable to you, based on college or preseason play?

hopefully they can fix that. IMO pass blocking is more difficult to learn than run blocking.

i agree accept i want to see them draft a DT and a safety

That article is a pretty good assessment aside from a couple of glitches.
I think Spragan is playing better than some think and OLB is not really a 'pressing' need. I guess it's just hard to ignore the talent avail. in the coming draft.

I also agree with Ngata in the 1st, Cutler in the 2nd (if avail.).

The best Tackle left in the 3rd unless they are clearly not the BPA.
Given the depth at T in the draft, there should be a couple of decent prospects at the top of the 3rd to compete with Alabi. If the guy is big enough, switching to guard may also be an option if they don't work out at Tackle.
