When the Miami Dolphins released All-Pro defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh for salary cap reasons, everyone looked at Jordan Phillips and second-year player Davon Godchaux to pick up the slack and make up for the loss of an elite talent.

But as the preseason has worn on, it's becoming clear that those two aren't the only ones capable of making big plays when it counts: Vincent Taylor, who was drafted out of Oklahoma State in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL draft (one round after Godchaux) has also making big plays, even though the amount of chances he's gotten with the starters is fairly small.

I agree. He looks like the dude who's made a BIG jump Y1 to Y2.

We've had some pretty good drafts under CG.

So glad TBum's role has obviously diminished.

Another reason I'm NOT sold on our DL sucking.

Hope that's right.

If this is true, which I think it is, that is monumental improvement in our organizational structure.:thumbsup

Dude. So positive on THAT!

Seriously, very quietly CG has been on the mark.

I am so double crossed flippers it comes together!

But whatever -- CG has proven he's a legit force IMO.

Iv been saying it since the loss of Suh and I mention it every time his name come up here. He Ranked best rookie against the run in the history of PFF (like the last 10 yrs or so)

Why would we trade him?

I’m just saying if you were gonna make a trade this is your most valuable piece. Probably command a day 2 return

Phillips also has value but he’s in final year of deal and I don’t think miami would do it.

I don’t think they trade Vincent Taylor either but if you want to give something up to get something this is the guy.

Tank has killed his value this preseason

Last year and especially compared to Godchaux I didn't think Taylor had enough upfield disruption. But now without Suh the priorities have changed and Taylor's strength against the run is more noticeable and valuable

Watching the Ravens game, it shocked me how much quicker Taylor Vincent looks now than he did last season.

What's ironic is he was drafted to try to develop into a run stuffer and because he's a beast of a ST player. But I don't think it's a stretch to say that Taylor has been the 2nd most impressive DL behind Quinn. I like both he and Godchaeux, but Davon needs to work on the penalties. I do think Taylor was a bit underrated as a prospect in the draft but that's because of conference more than anything

100% agree. Vincent Taylor might become the best late round pick we drafted since Zach Thomas and even beter than Rashard Jones, he looks dominant and only in his second year. Blocks FGs, blocks passes, disrupts the line and looks VERY good against the run. I really like him on D. If we
solve the LB talent/or Baker and McMillan develop quickly, we might have some very good talent on defense. Is the offense that worries me. We always start very cold.
