It was a very good game in that regard

Very positive but middle pass coverage concerns me as well. Curious to see how week 2 goes.

That's a good thing, but it would've been better if Wake and Suh and company would've defended against the pass much better on that final Chargers drive.

When you know the other team has to pass in a critical situation, and your very big-money pass rushers don't get any pressure on the QB, it's disappointing.

Adding Hayes to the d-line looks like a really really good move in the early going. Along with the Godchaux pick.

Every time they went to run I held my breath thinking of our run D dating all the way back to that Broncos game a few years ago.

The Chargers are pretty soft up front on the oline but it's still encouraging.

Dline played well vs the run

yeah but......SD saw that they didn't need to run the ball in order to move it. Their short passing game was their run game. Why even bother to run it when you can throw 8 to 12 yard passes to WIDE OPEN receivers all game long? I'm glad they stopped the run but that lack of a pass rush will hurt our team all year long unless we do something about it and I mean in a consistent basis. Getting a few sacks at the jets this week is not going to tell us much thought it'd be a good start. We have a brutal schedule this year.

Ozzy rules!!

I like that we can stop the run but TEs and WRs are going to eat our lunch all season if we don't improve the middle of our D.

We held them to a low YPC but they only rushed 14 times. As Danny pointed out above there was probably little incentive to try and give the run game legs when it was an easy task to pass the ball and we couldn't get pressure on Rivers.

The numbers do look solid and we did play well vs the run when they attempted to but that situation has to be taken into account as well.
