The Dolphins' handling of last weekend's draft is being questioned by one of the top prospects' representative.
Agent Lamont Smith said he and client Braylon Edwards were ''disappointed'' the Dolphins repeatedly led them to believe, on draft day and earlier, that the Michigan receiver would be Miami's first-round draft choice.
Coach Nick Saban clearly wanted other teams to think he would draft Edwards, hoping that would lead to bids for the No. 2 pick. But Saban, who selected Ronnie Brown, said Miami received no offers.
''It [bothers] me,'' Smith said. ``Your word is all you have in this business. . . . We have to have some lines that are not crossed and have to believe what people on the other side say. If I was negotiating a deal with them and said we have a deal, all heck would break loose if we backed out. . . .
'To call a kid on draft day and say, `We are going to pick [you],' and make that call to me -- that crosses the line. You don't use kids like that. You don't do that to a kid on that day. . . . It's stressful enough on that day. You can tell the press whatever you want. Now we understand how [they] do business.''

Did the Dolphin FO overstep the ethical boundaries by misleading the agent for one of the top prospects of the draft? Or is it all part of the smokescreen process and fair game?
Who do you think made the phone call and if it wasnt Saban do you think that person might have overstepped his authority ?
Will there be any consequences of such a action if true? I would like to hear your opinion and maybe Brett Tessler's if he is around..
