The Dolphins game against the Bills is going to be their 100th straight sellout. Miami hasn't had a blackout since a game against the Rams in 1998. They better start winning at home though, because people will get fed up. [They actually sold out all in 2007 surprisingly.]

Congrats Miami, even though you don't always show up at least you buy the tickets. And those bright orange seats don't help since lots of people wear orange. And for some reason people look like they're still arriving at the stadium into the 2nd quarter. Miami does have one of the best tailgates though, that may be one reason for the lateness.

Does J-Lo get to strut around in a bikini for this milestone?!?!

Wow, props to the dedicated Miami fans. I'd swear people always say we're fair weather fans, but this makes it fair to say in the big picture we are otherwise.

With our home record, I wonder how many tickets Stephen Ross "buys" per game? He has other companies. All he has to do is route the money the right way and offer free tickets to thousands of employees.

has to be the local cbs stations buying the tickets and donating em

OR

the owner buying em for .34 cents on the dollar...

I guarantee there will be at least 15 to 20k open seats this Sunday...Last home game vs the Brownies, had that many empty seats...

Cbs

The Herald reported that CBS-4 would buy the remaining tickets. Don't give the fans credit.

Local affiliates buying them up. Plus, lots of opposing team's fans always show up. Not as good as it sounds.

I think the thousands and thousands of empty seats
speak volumes more than a sell out

Outside of very very few teams in the NFL folks, excess tickets are usually bought up by the owner or local media of some sort. Even in NY, the Jets owner, Woody Johnson has bought up tickets so the games could be aired. Its going on all around the country, pretty hard few years for a lot of people.

I have been to home games this year and with the exception of some nose bleed seats being empty, its a pretty good crowd. I read people knocking it always on this board. I cannot even fathom anyone who has actually gone to a game knocking anything aboout the game day experience at the stadium. I have been fortunate and been to a lot of NFL stadiums, and not being a homer either. Miami is one of the best in the country. Heck, just tailgating in the parking lot there is a blast. People always knock there is a lot of Jets fans and Pittsburgh fans in attendance. Well genius people, thats what happens when you have masses of people from all over the Northeast that migrated to Florida to live. They buy season tickets just for that one game and the rest of the year they either sell them or attend the games as Miami fans. Same goes on out in Arizona too. You can see Cardinals fans with Pittsburgh or Green Bay tents and if their team plays in town, they root for them. This does not bother me one bit. When you are raised rooting for a team how can you just give up on them ?

I have never had a problem with any of the other teams transplanted fans. Now, I imagine if you want to get tanked up and start trading insults with them you could wager you will get into a fight.

The stadium never looks full to me. But, I dont know much about how ticket allocations work in the NFL.

90% of the stadiums that are " sold out " and avoid blackouts, are not really sold out to maximum limit. The term sold out to avoid a blackout is a little decieving in a sense. They have never let the magic number out to the public but there are plenty of sites that record team attendances and the magic number to " avoid blackouts" appears to be somewhere in the neighborhood between 80 to 84% of total tickets sold for the game. Hit that magic number and the game is on Local TV. Suites are not included in that magic number. I have attached the seasons record for total attendance for all teams for 2010. If you look at St. Louis, who has not had a game blacked out this year, you will see the home game attendance hovers around 80% so that appears to be the magic number this year. Sell 80% of your total seats, not including the luxury suites, and your game is on TV in the local area.

As you can see, we are about the middle of the pack in the NFL as far as per centage for attendance which is at 90% , not as bad as many on here make it out to be. As I said, its a great time on game day when I am down there.

Whats really surprising is the attendance at Carolina games. Team is the by far, the worst in the NFL but the fans are still packing the place in. Makes some of the Miami fans that LOVE to moan about anything look like little girlyman crybabies.

No one wants to pay good money to watch the Dolphins as long as Henne and Henning are still on the team.
