Jason Fox isn't one of those nasty, aggressive types who intimidates opponents. You won't find the ex-University of Miami standout finishing blocks by driving defensive ends and linebackers into the ground and towering over them victoriously.
But that doesn't necessarily mean Fox, an all-around nice guy who has spent his four-year NFL career at right tackle, can't protect quarterback Ryan Tannehill's blind side.
In fact, Fox — who could open the season as the starting left tackle because Branden Albert is still recovering from last year's knee injury — thinks he's ready for the job.
"It's unfortunate what happened to Branden, he's an excellent tackle," said Fox, who has made five starts in 22 career games.
"But it's an opportunity. I've got to make the most of it. I've got to show up and help this team win ballgames."
The left tackle situation might be the most ambitious experiment in the Dolphins' starting lineup at this point, moreso than either guard spot because it's the most important position on the offensive line.
