Now correct me if I'm wrong on this, but the last time we played the falcons at home was several years ago. I remember this game all to clearly because I was there.

It was Vick's rookie season, and the Crystal Chandelier aka Chris Chandler was still quarterbacking for the Falcons. Midway through the game Chandler lived up to his name and left the game with an injury. What ensued was a great game that was stemmed from Vick's stunning debut.

With the lead in hand Vick was able to run through the defense and make the plays happen. He was surrmounting a comeback, and if he succeeded it would have been devastating. Once again, the dolphins defense stepped it up and provided the needed effort to win the game. First came one goaline stand that stopped the Falcons from scoring.

While it changed the momentum some, the Falcons continued to drive for that comeback. With the closing seconds of the game coming, the Falcons reached our redzone once again. Two plays later, they falcons were on the goaline and time was wanning. Third and goal and they run it, but the defense prevails and it's now 4th and goal. The Falcons are only able to run one last play, and this play decides the game. The Falcons ran it once again and once again the defense prevailed. Two goaline stands and the Dolphins are winners.

That was a great game and a great childhood memoory. Here's to round 2 and a great game from both teams but will end up as a home win for the dolphins. :jumper: :dedolfan:

We're 7-2 all time against ATL. I'm a homer so I obviously think we'll make it 8-2.

The last game I remember against ATL was when they went to the SB. I think we played them in the last game of the season and they killed us.

the first game i ever saw in miami was for my 16th birthday
so i guess it was in 1996
it was against the falcons
some guy behind me was talking smack all game cause the falcons were winning
he left when the game was out of hand, as did most of the crowd
but i wanted to stay the whole time
and of course, marino led a miracle comeback and won

one of the best moments of my life...

All I remember from that game was a 50yd laser from Vick to some WR down the sideline that had me looking like this . . .

Amazing pass. All I could think at the time was forget a Fins SB for the next five to ten years, this league will belong to Michael Vick like the NBA was Jordan's bi*ch in the 90's. Good thing reality set in. :)

Yes I know, it was said in the first post. But I don't remember that game as much as I remember the game I mentioned. That's why I said it was the last game I remember.

thats all i remember too... he was on the run scrambling outside the pocket and made that throw, i was amazed... they almost won too but i think he had a couple pics also that cost them...

What i remeber from that game was when Lorenzo Bromell and Jason Taylor both thought they had ick sacked (Bromell was on top of vicks back) everyone in the crowd thought vick was sacked but once Bromell and Taylor slide off of him he booked it for 50-60 yards and got them close to the goalline...I also remeber that that game was ver contrversial because it was before instant replay and on the last play of the game the Falcons supposdly say their fullback reached across the goalline to score the winning TD but the refs said nope and the dolphins won on a goalline stand...Also during that game Pat Surtain had a broken wrist and picked off a Vick pass but Pat then started to return it for a TD but Vick hawked him down and made Pat fumble and the falcons got the ball back...

It was 1995 and Dan pulled it out with a throw in the closing seconds to Irving Fryer who bobbled it before he brought it in just as he was getting hit. I was there to. It was one bright spot in a very disappointing year.

I remember that the Falcons faced a 4th and 21 on their last drive. Vick ran for 23 on that play... Then they had at least 2 plays at our one yard line and they gave the ball to their full back twice instead of running a roll out. Great playcalling ;)

i remember that goal line stand well. the public likes Miami too. the line went from ATL -2, to ATL -1.5

I remember that game perfectly, I recall Brock Marion getting an INT TD early in the game. And ahh yes, the goaline stand. It was Atlanta's FB Bob "Sister" Chrstian (think that was his last yeaR) who was stopped and it was a very controversal ending but we barely won it.

Oh man, stop tickling me like that. That game you mentioned is the single highest rated NFL betting opportunity I've ever seen in 20+ years of doing this. My friends and I were literally calling each other all week before the game in gleeful anticipation.

That game featured the two strongest NFL betting trends at the time, merging together and pointing to Atlanta as a virtual lock. I've mentioned the road-non-division after Monday night angle many times here. The Dolphins were in that dungeon against Atlanta, since we had just hosted (and defeated) Denver on Monday night six days earlier.

Also, the game fit one trend that is now passe, due to the elimination of pure artificial turf playing fields. A very simple system used to be: "Bet against any team that has played two or more straight on grass and is coming off a win, if it is playing on the road and either favored or up to a 3 point underdog." That angle was phenomenal and produced tons of plays, usually at least one game per week. It was 77% for a long stretch of years in the '90s, including one year with something like 19-2. Like home anti revenge, it was a first half dynamo with the road teams simply not ready to play on artificial turf to begin the game. When the teams slowly eliminated artificial turf -- Jets/Giants, Eagles, Bengals, Steelers, Seahawks, Falcons, Bills and so on -- that angle disappeared and it ruined the ease of handicapping the NFL. Field turf does not have the same impact.

So that Dolphin game fit both systems, since we had also played multiple games on grass and were coming off a win. The first half onslaught was entirely predictable. I can still remember the Atlanta tight end bouncing off our weary defenders like they were grade schoolers. That game helped pay for my Infiniti G20. Cash. I don't like payments.
