January is always an interesting month in the NFL. Mainstream Web sites, blogs and fan forums are typically abuzz with free agency conjecture, draft pipe dreams and the occasional far-fetched Super Bowl parallel piece.

Well, now it’s February, so it’s time to get down to business again.

Please read through this piece and let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Amen brother. Very good article. All Dolfans need to keep perspective this offseason.

Parcells and his cohorts are not going to break the bank for free agents and/or trades and they’re most definitely not going to bring in players who don't fit the system.

That quote is the main reason why I think we are still at least a year away from being legit. We will need three full off seasons to fix most of the problems this team had when Bill and company arrived. I think we'll be a better team in 09, but won't make the playoffs. But considering where we came from and what our 09 schedule is, I'll be ok with that.

You could be right, but if certain players ascend quickly and the right rookies/free agents come in, 2009 could be the year.

I just think the schedule is the reason we won't make the playoffs. Sure anything could happen, but it's unlikely we improve enough to compete weekly with the best in the NFL.

With that said, I love where this team stands with their coaching staff and FO. I think we have the staff in place to be an elite team in the near future, we just aren't there yet.

Yeah, but you're assuming that the schedule is all that tough. On paper, it looks tough, but injuries and other factors (players progress/regressing) often make things topsy turvy.

For all we know, the schedule could be relatively soft by the time we get to actually playing the games. That's why I try to never put any weight on future games. I just take it one week at a time.

I guess, but you're really hoping for a lot IMO.
