Dolphins first wave of cuts

Cone was very good on special teams at Atl. That might be the reason he's still here ... for now.

Cone is here in case Williams blows out his knee and some team trades us a 3rd for Rishard Matthews. It wouldn't surprise me though if Cone wins a 6th WR job based on ST ability. He's a capable receiver and with 5 pretty good receivers ahead of him, we won't need a world beater in the receiving area.

We need the ST guys to come from somewhere.

Not shocked by Binns. He looked great before the Pads came on but once they came on he fell behind Matthews, Landry, and Williams. You could also argue that Cone passed him.

Binns was behind every one of those guys except for Williams from the get go. He was a longshot who had to play some amazing football to be in consideration. I'm hoping for his sake that he can resurface, because it always saddens me to hear about that receiver about to emerge who suffers a terrible injury and loses his chance (Kendall Newsome anyone?).

He wasn't really anything too special even before God injury. Another "potential" guy

I used to think PS was a great way to stash players. Now I realize it just gives us a chance to monitor and develop them closely. But we are just renting them. They can be poached at any second by another team. So, in all reality, they are just rented FA's getting to use our facilities and coaching staff.

So, realistically, PS is a false security blanket. If you really like a guy, he needs to be on your 53 or he is available to the highest bidder.

Francis was too heavy and soft this camp. He needs another year for the team to figure out his best weight and role.

Hard to believe we still care about Gillislee

Lynch isn't very good but I suppose we need to keep bodies who actually resemble an NFL tight end. If Clay and Hoskins are on the roster we're doubling up on dessert.

I have a feeling the coaching staff is still higher on Daniel Thomas than the majority of posters here. Thomas has never bothered me other than being drafted maybe 3 rounds too high. I don't know why we would manipulate the system to retain the rights to Gillislee and then drop Thomas. I prefer Thomas among those two gems.

Next wave I suppose I'm rooting for Jelani Jenkins to be gone. Posters tried to make a case for him last year. I didn't see it. By late season the assessments of his level were borderline ridiculous, IMO.

Gator hater :p

Seriously though, not sure what you see in Thomas, he's awful man, waste of a roster space, rather try to develop Williams and Darkwa. Thomas isn't getting any better tbh.

Not having lynch is worrisome, Sims is the only real in line TE we have on the roster.

Lynch looked NFL ready too, I expect well be looking hard for an available in line TE.

Miller is or can be an inline TE too.

I agree - 95% of Finheaven fans have written off Daniel Thomas expectng him to be cut, but I think the coaches really want to see him Thursday night. A good game from Daniel and he makes the roster. A bad game and he gets cut.
We were all expecting more from Thomas but he still represents RB depth in case of injuries to players like Knowshon Moreno and Lamar Miller.
I expect that Damien Williams has played himself into the 3rd RB role, ahead of Thomas. But if we have 4 RBs, then it's DT vs Darkwa vs someone from another team.
Watch the Daniel Thomas interview from yesterday. He is always serious, but when asked about Thursday's game he seems very honest in admitting that the game is very important for him. He knows he has to play well (ie make some big runs) to make the roster. Philbin could very easily have just cut Thomas when he cut Egnew the other day. Both have been highly drafted disappointments, much to Ireland's chagrin. However, DT has got a last chance. I think he's playing for his career and he knows it. Don't be surprised if he plays well. Sherman always seemed to defend DT, but Lazor is new and the hamstring injury came at the wrong time. He's a big back 6'1" 235 lbs and he's hungry. Against 3rd string defenders he may make some plays. He's rushed for 1312 yards with an additional 291 yards receiving and he's scored 11 TDs in his 3 seasons. He's not as good as we hoped but he's not terrible.

None of the #Dolphins players waived yesterday got claimed, so they are all free agents now.

Finheaven wasn't the only place where there was optimism for Jenkins. Unfortunately he has been invisible and everywhere I've seen has sobered on him considerably.
