Dolphins' Frank Gore Wants To Return For 15th Season In 2019

Miami Dolphins running back Frank Gore, who does not need surgery for his sprained foot, wants to return in 2019 for a 15th NFL season, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Friday.

The source told ESPN that doctors have determined that Gore, who was placed on injured reserve after leaving last Sunday's 41-17 loss to the Vikings, is expected to recover in a few weeks.

An unrestricted free agent this offseason, Gore would like to return to the Dolphins if the two sides can work out a deal, a source told ESPN's Cameron Wolfe.

Please just retire already, thanks for this season, but this Team is going nowhere soon.

I would like him back - if our O can figure out how to stay on the field we could get enough touches for him, Drake and Ballage.

More than his running ability - which is still damn good - his leadership and work ethic have tremendous value.

No surgery? Awesome news, means he'll be back for the playoffs. :troll

The man just loves playing football. He has not let devastating injuries stop him from pursuing his dream.

I applaud his dedication to his dream. I hope he continues on after playing as a coach and mentor. The world and NFL needs more Frank Gore's.

I bring he and Wake back (dump Branch and Quinn) for their leadership, experience AND productivity.

Those instincts in traffic don't go away. Nor the dedication. No reason he can't be effective next season. Just hold him out of preseason again.

And don't pretend Ballage is a suitable replacement. That would be ugly. There's a reason Drake has never been featured full time and neither has Ballage.

Exactly

Why wouldn’t people want Gore back?

I would love to see Gore back for ATLEAST 1 more year. He played for $1m this year, if he wants a pay bump for another year or two he can have it. He's extremely valuable on the field, in the locker room, and as a mentor to both Drake and Ballage, especially if the plan is to have Ballage be our next big back. Gore has been one of the solid and most consistent running backs since his career started, and signing him this past offseason was a great decision that didn't get the attention it really deserved.

That is good news. Sign him up for one more year. It could be with fewer carries, though, if Ballage continues to play well.
