### Paul Soliai is down to three teams and the Dolphins are not one of them. Soliai is aware he won’t be signing here, barring something unexpected. The Dolphins and Soliai have had conversations in recent days but continue to have a different view of his value, especially with regard to guaranteed money. The Falcons are among teams reportedly in pursuit... The Dolphins are considering several defensive tackles to replace Soliai and Starks, with Houston's Earl Mitchell among them. Jason Hatcher, Linval Joseph, Henry Melton and Arthu Jones are also available.

Im all for letting him go, asking for way to much money, or he would sign with us again..............

Sola I was a good player for us but his stock is now ready to be cashed in.
We would all do the same. This will likely be his last big contract.

Wasn't there a report where he was stated to wanting upwards of six million a year?

Anyone else think maybe we want to get quicker at the DT spots in order to get more QB hurries and sacks? Pressure coming from the middle can be very big. Soliai and Starks are more of run stuffers, and we weren't too great against the run last year. Perhaps we are going in a different direction.

Thoughts?

I'd circle back and try to resign Starks. i don't like the idea of breaking up what has been a strength of our team.
I'd also go get Tony McDaniel to put back in the rotation if at all possible.
As far as inside pressure I believe Starks and Odrick had 4 sacks a piece which is very good for D tackles.

That's too bad about Solai, I really like him on our line, I guess the front office has a new vision. i wish him the best of luck.

I love the fact they are looking into Earl Mitchell, this would be a very good under the radar signing.

Maybe he can be our next Starks. We can all admit, the Starks signing was a good one.

According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Texans’ impending free agent DT Earl Mitchell could be an option for the Bears in free agency.

Biggs adds that re-signing Henry Melton could still be an option for the Bears as well.

Former Buccaneers GM Mark Dominik mentioned as Mitchell as a free agent who could end up being a ”good value” this offseason.

Mitchell, 26, has only missed one game in his NFL career and totaled 48 tackles and 1.5 sacks for the Texans in 2013.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 51 defensive tackle in the league out of 69 qualifying players. It’s worth noting that Mitchell is a capable interior pass-rusher, which is actually hard to find on the open market.

Im not a big Solia fan. He worried more about drawing holds than getting to the QB. He is a run stopper on a team that struggled against the run last year. He is replaceable IMO especially with the good group of FA's and a deep draft at DT.

The Run defense was not good last season.

It needs to get better. Younger, faster & cheaper might be better too. :ponder:
