Dolphins frontrunners for Steelers WR Mike Wallace

 Too predictable. Good job, man. You were right about this team sucking year after year? What do you want? A medal? Gimme a damn break with this "I know better than your homers" BS, man. Same nonsense, different day with some around here. :rolleyes2: It's easy to suck when you have knuckleheads running the team. Newsflash: Sparano and company are no longer running the team!

But keep with that self-defeatist attitude especially when you have NO idea what Philbin or the rest of his staff will bring to this team. So yeah, we may or may not be the best team around talent-wise, but there's no way you can say we're a sub-.500 before preseason even begins.

Remember, we pulled off an 11-5 record even with Sparano on less talent than we've had now. Oh and I guarantee you there was no one predicting what San Fran pulled off last season with a rookie head coach, especially after eight straight seasons of .500 or worse football. Not going to say this will happen to us, but this just proves you can't sit there and predict with such certainly that we're going to be one of the worst teams before the season starts.

Philbin may be unknown but he's clearly much smarter and knowledgeable about the game than what we've had recently as head coach. I have faith in him, you may not, but I feel he's going to lead this team out of it's funk sooner rather than later. There's a new attitude on offense and defense and throughout the team for that matter. Whether it be this season or next remains to be seen, but I'm confident he IS going to lead this franchise in a new direction.

What Philbin brings to the team is irrelevent as long as there's no talent on the team which is obviously the case right now. You overrate the importance of coaching. The players on the field matter more, and our aren't anywhere near good enough. Having Philbin might be great for the future, but we're talking the present here. As for the idiots being gone, Jeff Ireland is still here, so there goes that. And let me know when we get another pathetic schedule and a Chad Pennington to fall in our laps ala 2008, then maybe I'll revise my prediction. Until then, this is still a 6 win team.

I completely disagee.. I think we may just have a payoff team this year.. are you this negative about everyhting in your life? Wheres the love man? ;-) Nothing wrong with some optimism on this board for once.

Optimism is one thing. Flat out homerism annoys the hell out of me. Too much of it on this site these days. People complaining because nobody in the media thinks we're worth a damn. I wonder why... Time to start being realistic about this team. There's a LOT of work to be done, and expecting playoffs this year is being ridiculous. The team deserves the very low expectations everyone but Dolphins fans has for them.

No I don't overrate the importance of coaching...I believe you significantly underrate it. I can point out plenty of example of coaching making a HUGE difference for a team throughout the history of the NFL but you're probably well aware of them. Now no one is saying Philbin is going to be the next Shula, but if Joe's at least half the coach Shula was then we're in for a pretty good future.

Oh and I'm aware talent on this football may not be the greatest, but a good coach learns to put his players in the best position to succeed. Granted, it's too early to tell how well Philbin does this, however he's shown so far that he's got the football smarts to turn this team around. Call it homerism if you want, but I know I'm not alone here with the optimistic outlook, so if that's too annoying for you then...well, you'll just might have to get used to it.

I'm with you with the realism for the team, and i think fans should have modest expectations at best, but to say theres too much homerism on this site and complaining?? I see a lot less of that now than I have in the past 5 years, most people are coming to terms with realistic expectations for this team, no need to rip the hearts out of the homers out there still

Posts like these give me hope. I reply because I believe this too. I am not saying we will come out and win 12 games next season but I feel the current coaching changes will have a huge effect this season. Philbin knows football. He comes from a winning franchise and his breed is what we need atm. I have watched every draft for the past 5 years ( I am young ) and I have to say this is the most excited I have been about this team since I saw Marino play. Tomorrow is the 4th day of training camp and I am loving every tweet from omar. Yes it is training camp, yes it is early; however what if this year this team actually feels something different. I mean check the boards, posts, and treads. I mean I don't think I have ever seen this type of optimism from dolphin fans. I think the dawn is near but I won't feel totally sold until we have our starting QB. That QB needs to be Tannehill. If he cannot fulfill that 8th pick potential and fail to start THIS SEASON on his own talent and pure skill, than I probably wait another four years for something to happen or change. I feel that will be the biggest sign of change. I know its a longshot and unrealistic but I feel this has to happen for us to get out of this slump. For gods sake its been over a decade hasn't it?

Either way I really feel like things are changing and this off-season has shown me some potential for a bright future. Maybe its because I have payed more attention, maybe its because I feel everyone has noticed something different since we cleaned house, or maybe its because this is a new era. Something we have forgotten. I am going to be watching closely as will all of you. Fingers crossed....:ponder:

Homerism always ramps up come training camp. Never fails. This is true for all teams really. Hell every sport.

Big time. I'm one of the people who couldn't stand all the bridge jumping by fans. Not to mention the media piling inflaming the bridge jumpers like a bad case of hemmorrhoids. It's gone from one extreme to the other. Fans need to get a grip. Show some patience as things unfold. Stop setting unreasonable expectations for individual players and the team. Learn to embrace the growing process. All the past regime failures have nothing to do with this new one. Let them breath a little bit.

This team has some talent. To say there is no talent is stupid.

"Some talent" Sure. Every team has "some talent" Bottom 5-10 in the league in talent? Obviously. Not good enough. Talent at the most important position on the field, meaning Moore and Garrard, obviously not good enough.

Dude then go be a patriot's fan. We will call you when we think it's time. Then you can pretend you were on board all along.

Bush, Miller, Tannehill, Long, Pouncey, Martin, Clay, Wake, Starks, Dansby, Davis, Smith. All of these players have pro bowl talent. Some just need proper coaching to achieve consistency. Once that happens watch out! Also, if you look at the rest of the starters on the team you can't really say there are any scrubs that will hurt the team. Obviously, the team will only go as far as the QB takes them but you can see Tannehill has the talent to be special. And this is coming from a fan who has always been very critical of the team and far from a homer.
