As a devout Dolphin fan I have been following our offseason and, more recently, start of training camp with great interest. I think that the current front office has made a commitment to building a long-term winner based on principled football opinions that have shown results in the past. The change to strong physical specimens and a no-nonsense "let the results speak for themselves with personal accountability" attitude has been particularly refreshing in light of the last few management styles that a. appeared to be more "player-friendly" b. put too much stock into gut-decisions and qualitative characteristics and c. clearly did not work well.
With that being said, I would like to start discussion on who we have now that could become a game-changing player. Think Jason Taylor batting a pass away at the line and running it into the endzone. Think Surtain, in his day, taking a pass away at a critical juncture of a game and running it the opposite way. Think Zach knocking the snot out of Jerome Bettis in the rain.
I'd like the reasoning behind your opinion on who could step up and become one of these key players. This can include arguments based on pure natural talent, results in previous seasons, physical/mental make up and how they fit within our offense/defensive schemes and whatever else you think is relevant. There's nothing wrong with opinion as long as it comes from some form of reasoning that can be followed.
CK/Blitzkrieg - I'm honestly interested in your take for no reason other than the fact that I find your writing to be intelligent, informed, and thought-provoking.
Should be fun to watch this camp and season as it goes on. Thanks.
