ESPN Insider has an interesting piece grading every NFL team’s moves during free agency.

Obviously, the Miami Dolphins have been one of the most active teams this offseason. New vice president Mike Tannenbaum has come in and made a significant splash in signing Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to a $114-million contract. It was the biggest contract in NFL history given to a defensive player.

Here are the list of key additions and subtractions that earned a “B” grade:
Key re-signings/additions: TE Jordan Cameron, TE Ryan Taylor, DT Ndamukong Suh, CB Brice McCain, WR Kenny Stills, C J.D. Walton
Key subtractions: WR Brandon Gibson, WR Brian Hartline, TE Charles Clay, CB Cortland Finnegan, RB Daniel Thomas, G Daryn Colledge, DE Derrick Shelby, DT Jared Odrick, OT Jason Fox, OLB Jason Trusnik, SS Jimmy Wilson, OLB Jonathan Freeny, RB Knowshon Moreno, G Nate Garner, LB Philip Wheeler, CB R.J. Stanford, DT Randy Starks, C Samson Satele, G Shelley Smith, WR Mike Wallace, LB Dannell Ellerbe
As you can see, there are significantly more subtractions than additions at this point. The Dolphins, after going 8-8 the past two seasons, felt changes needed to be made with personnel in order to get over the hump and end the team’s six-year playoff drought.
The Suh signing alone makes this class impactful. Suh is a game-changer who will provide toughness and an identity to Miami’s defense. Secondary acquisitions such as Stills and Cameron, if healthy, also should be significant contributors this season.
But Miami’s work isn’t done. The team still has holes at guard, wide receiver and linebacker. The Dolphins have six selections in next month’s NFL draft and will look to improve those weaknesses.

We didn't lose Shelby. You'd think they'd at least fact check for a service you have to pay for.

I bet the Jets and Bills got an A as well as the Pats probably getting a B even though they've had a horrid offseason.

Can't disagree with this assessment. Seeing all of the departures listed in one place is quiet remarkable. I hope trimming our team doesn't leave too many holes and lack of continuity early in the season. One area we need to upgrade/replace is our punt return and kickoff return specialist. I don't want Landry doing those roles now that he is our main man. Perhaps our draft pick can assume that role as he learns the playbook as the 4th reciever

I think we will probably have Damien Williams,Rishard Matthews do the KR/PR

Didn't lose Fox either.

Stopped reading/taking this seriously when these players were listed as "Key Subtractions", players that either barely contributed, were injured, or most importantly players like Wheeler, Finnegan and Jimmy Wilson who did more bad than good while playing, but most importantly I laughed when i saw Daniel Thomas listed as a "Key Subtraction" lol, ESPN as usual is a joke

Our grade is very fair.
The jets getting an A for having a very similar off season is puzzling.

I'd also give a B.

Going through every move we made, I grade them as all varying degrees of risk and concern, some quite a bit more uncomfortable than others, But, all very high reward in return. All are playmakers and solid additions to a team looking for scoring and stout defense.
If we can get the most out of each, this will improve what's already doing well here.

No one we lost was purely dominant at their game. One could argue Wallace, but let's face it folks, the guy did not want to play here anymore despite saying the opposite; you have to cut your losses. Odrick, Starks, Clay, Hartline, and Gibson are all good in their own ways, but I can live with moving on from every single one based on their contracts. Ellerbe, Wheeler, and Jimmy Wilson look underwhelming, I'd have maybe given Ellerbe a second chance on a cheaper deal, but that's it.

Adding Suh makes up for losing 10. There's a SuhNami coming to Miami folks!!!!!!!!

That was my first time doing the whole "Suh" thing. Sheepish grin
