Dolphins | Ginn primarily a returner
Tue, 24 Jul 2007 14:29:34 -0700
Miami Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron said rookie WR Ted Ginn Jr., who is not yet signed, will have a primary role as a returner. "He will evolve as a receiver," Cameron said.

Teddy better hurry his butt into camp. I think this is just Cam trying to pressure Teddy to sign.

Not really a suprise. Rookie receivers very rarely have a huge impact. Marques Colston is a completel anamoly so let's leave him out. But who in the rookie class had a huge impact as a WR? Santonio Holmes got better late in the year and Chad Jackson missed most of the year.

Ginn will be used as a special teamer this year and when Marty Booker parts ways with the Dolphins next off-season, he'll become our 3rd WR with Chambers and Hagan as the starters.

I don't think so. He was saying these things about Ginn for months.

i think he is bluffing. there is no way we use a top 10 pick on someone like Ginn with his speed and have him sit in the bench. he needs several touches each game and Cam knows that.

And there's your proof of using a #9 pick on a special teams player.

he may have been saying hes gonna be primarily a returner lower his asking price--- probly wont work but maybe this has been cams intention since draft day

probly not tho

If Ginn is our 3rd receiver in 2008 behind Hagan, that'd be a disappointment.

2007, fine.. but not 2008, especially if Hagan is in front.

Pay is slotted by pick#. The only ones that tend to command a premium are QBs in the top 10.

No matter how many times we hear it people still won't believe.

And there have been many Rookie WR's start and make an impact on their team.

Yes, but the percentage is very low.

2006: Any one besides Marques Colston?
2005: Braylon Edwards, Troy Williamson, Mike Williams were all top 10 picks and didn't do anything in 2005. Ginn will have a better impact then all of them.

I could go on but there's no need, rookie WRs in the NFL are known for not always having a huge impact. I'm fine with Ginn being our X factor this year and being worked into a more prodominant WR role in 2008.
