Dolphins to give tryout to man who was wrongly jailed for five years

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7987374/nfl-teams-want-exonerated-brian-banks-try-out

Several NFL teams are willing to give Brian Banks a chance to fulfill his dream of playing pro football.
Banks, who last week was exonerated of a rape conviction that put him in prison for five years, told ESPN columnist Rick Reilly that he'll work out with the Seattle Seahawks on June 7. TheWashington Redskins, Kansas City Chiefs andMiami Dolphins also have called to talk to him about a tryout.
"I'll make 'em happy," Banks, who's been training non-stop since October, told Reilly on Tuesday. "After all I've been through these last 10 years, I can still do some things that will impress you."

That would be a good story for Hard Knocks...

It is a good indicator how many pro teams want him - interested in him. He might be a good player. if the Dolphins decide not to hire him, maybe the Miami Marlins will take a chance on him - he could vent his bat on a ball hard!

She better get some harsh punishment for doing that to another person. What a bitch

Apparently he is asking for 100 dollars for every day he was jailed. And he's also been working out for a long while to get this opportunity.

The girl basically already said it was all made up and it was consensual.

But that she is afraid that if she says anything on record, her and her family will have to pay back the $1.5 Mill settlement they got from a lawsuit against the city and public school department.

I've seen this story played out so many times, even someone I knew in highschool is still doing time because the girlfriend got pregnant and instead of fessing up to the deed. She told her parents the dude raper her.

In cases of her word against his, 90% of the time the guy gets the blame.

Best luck to this guy, hopefully he will make it on some team. Never stop chasing that dream.

It angers me how this woman can be so adament in aiding Banks the day after his prision release. How selfish. Notice how everyone wants to clear their conscience after they've terribly wronged someone. Oh yeah, she wants to help, but as long as its on the down low and she doesnt have to pay back a rediculous $1.5 MILLION dollars.

Lady....do you not realize you were successful in ruining an innocent mans life? How selfish are you????

Did the woman who lied about the rape end up in jail like she should be? You shouldn't be able to take away a guy's freedom for 5 years with a false accusation without getting some sort of punishment.

From what I've read, she gets off free from jail time and repaying the money due to the statute of limitations having passed. It's terrible.

From what I have read it seems like it was all around terrible for this kid.

Lawyer told him to take the plea deal instead of risking 20+ years in jail. He is now a registered sex offender. It seems that it was mostly the girls parents that started the fire, telling the girl what to do and say. Seems like the parents were after the lawsuit money no matter the consequences to the young man.

Feel like if it would of gone to trial kid would of gotten off because of so many conflicting statements by both parties, but I'm taking the lawyer knows the statistics behind these cases and as previously mentioned 90% of the time the "he said, she said" rape cases go in favor of the female.

Not to get off topic, but this statement is not accurate.
