The Dolphins defense has faced 1st and goal situations 11 times this season. They have allowed 10 TD's, worst percentage in league.
The one time the opposition didn't score a TD was Atlanta. Dion Jordan made a tackle on 3rd and 1 and forced a 20 yard FG.

The Dolphins red zone defense is much better currently ranked 11th. This is a drop from last year when they were 2nd. They have allowed 11 TD's in 22 attempts. 50%

So when teams get to our red zone getting a first down is the key. Once they get it we allow the TD almost every time.

I miss seeing those goal line stands. They can be huge momentum changers. Need to make sure Dion Jordan in playing in the red zone.

What is the average percentage of TDs allowed near the goal line, and how far are the Dolphins from it?

Not sure, average red zone d is about 56%, so goal line d should be somewhat higher. I'm guessing about 70-75%.

Haven't been able to find a site that tracks this. Just heard on nfl network that we were the worst at 10/11. I went thru game logs and verified. Don't have time to do it for every team.

Well, Jordan being in didn't seem to help last week.

We gave up 2 for 2 in goal to goal situations against New England.

Now we have given up a TD in 12 of 13 1st and goal situations this season. Terrible.

We really miss Dansby down on the goal line. He makes a difference there that we are not seeing.

Sad thing is that it looks really easy to run or pass against our D near the goaline. All to often a back is untouched upon crossing the goaline.

That's a bit of an understatement.

If Jordan is going to be used at the goal line he needs to slant and penetrate quickly, or be used in a linebacker role to take advantage of his speed and pursuit. He's going to get buried in standard schemes.

true...he was buried on goalline vs the pats...

i think a lot of our goalline issues on d fall on surprise the lbs...comes back to a lack of instincts...

Agreed.

I would say it's a lack of size on the edges! Most of our allowed goalline runs and any sort of positive runs comes against our ends which(expect for Dion-Maybe) are on the undersize side.

Updated from Bengal game where we gave up a Bernard td run from 1st and goal.

Dolphins have now allowed a TD on 13 of 14 1st and goal situations.

The Grimes pick 6 in the red zone was nice to see even though it wasn't in a goal to go situation.

How about Jordan getting like 50 snaps a game instead of 15?

At what position? If he is playing end then no, he isn't strong enough yet at the POA. If you want him on the field, play him at in Wheeler's spot.

If we are going to be there in January we have to step up.
I didn't hear Jordan's name once last week. I love to see us streak up like in 05,but make the playoffs too.

Now I could see limiting Jordan's snaps if he was a liability out there. But he is a proven playmaker.

Makes no god damn sense why you limit a players snaps like that!
