So Cam Newton got his deal and it seems as though it wasn't far off from what Tannehill got. But then more details came out and it seems as though Carolina is paying Newton $22 million more over the next 6 years than we will pay Tannehill. I believe we won with that contract we gave him. RT17 is a better QB than Newton and most people on here believe that. Obviously we have some exceptions. Some people on here thought that his $96 Million was too high. I, like most of us, thought it was a deal.

I don't think that Newton will be worth $22 Million more than RT17 over the next 6 years if they play out their contracts. He also got more guaranteed money as well.

One statement stuck with me two weeks ago after talking withRyan Tannehill's agent following his $96 million extension with the Miami Dolphins.
"I fully believe, and I've told them this, we may end up regretting this deal one day," agent Pat Dye told me and a small group of reporters.

Is Newton $22 million better than Tannehill as a quarterback? Their metrics say absolutely not.

Somewhere Russell Wilson smiles and Andrew Luck laughs maniacally.

After this Newton Contract, I can only imagine what those two guys are going to get. Tannehills contract is going to look even sweeter after those. :)

Newton's Contract is 67M for the next 3 years! 60M guaranteed...

I might be in the minority but i think Newton sucks on a Dalton level

Tannehill has shown consistent improvement every season. Cam has shown consistent decline every season.

Cam has the rushing numbers to make an argument here but if you take the per game passing/rushing TD's, INT's, Fumbles, passing/rushing Yards.

If I'm signing a player for the future at even money i take RT17, Make him cheaper and i take him without thinking. If he continues to develop and shows some leadership he will be a steal.

What I like about Tannehill's deal the most is that it leaves some extra room in Miami's cap to shop for upgrades every year; that money can go a long way in providing him a better chance to succeed, and thus earn a better extension down the road.
Making more money now and handcuffing the team would only hurt his offense's room for growth.

It's gonna be interesting to see how much Luck will get. My bet the Colts will give him a mega deal.

Those who bring up playoffs when comparing Newton to RT have to ask themselves how many playoff games the Panthers would have played had they played in the AFC east. Conversely, could Miami have made the playoffs last yr in that division.
Miami's 8-8 record would have won that division last yr.

Russell Wilson hasn't done anything to break the bank for....great defense he rode....and he blew the superbowl with a bad decision.

He will be overpaid if he gets more than Tannehill.

Tannehill's agent said it best......there's a decent chance he will regret signing this deal. He was in line to get double or triple what he got in guarantees and force the team to commit to him for at least 3-4 more years. If he puts in a couple of Stafford type seasons there's nothing stopping the Phins from asking to re-negotiate or cutting him outright in 2017. Its great for the team but I don't see what Tannehill gets out of this aside from a nice check up front.

After the next set of extensions to be handed out Tannehill will probably fall out of the top 10 in QB contracts. Right now hes 7th overall in Average Per Year. It is an excellent deal for both sides. If he balls it up he gets paid, if he stinks it up Miami can walk away in a few years.

Don't know yet if it's a bargain, but Thill is already better than Dalton. Bengals fleeced themselves

i think newton was entering his final year also which means imo carolina had no choice but to pony up more...being proactive saved miami some coin way i see it
