The much anticipated multi-front negotiation with potential first overall picks the Dolphins were said to be preparing has not happened and, by the most rudimentary uses of logic, will not happen because it is simply too late in the draft game to make it work.

The Dolphins talked to Jake Long's agent for the first time about two weeks ago and haven't talked to anyone else. Now, only five days from selection day, it is clear there will be no talks with Chris Long or Vernon Gholston or Matt Ryan or Glenn Dorsey.

Jake Long is Miami's man. And Jake Long will probably be drafted and agree to a contract with Miami, although not necessarily in that order.

Awesome Article by Armando, and that about sums it up. How sweet it feels to have no Drama.

"...it is clear there will be no talks with Chris Long or Vernon Gholston or Matt Ryan or Glenn Dorsey..."

wow, that's going to make many people here very upset

Im actually starting to be convinced the pick is Gholston.

No offense to anyone, but why is it so hard for some of you to believe Jake Long is our guy after guys like Schefter (who is the number NFL reporter) and others like Armando Salguero (Miami DOlphins Beat Writer) keep saying we will select Long. Even Peter King is saying Jake is our guy, I think some of you want your own guys Ryan, Gholston or Chris and it is hard to accept Jake will be our guy.

I don't like any of those guys more than the others. But I still think this onslaught of "Jake's almost a done deal" is a load of crap.

IMO, it was leaked from a credible source for a purpose we don't yet know, and has been parroted ad nauseum ever since. I'm not buying it, and it's not because I dislike Jake Long. It flies in the face of why we put Parcells in charge: to maximize our leverage in every situation, to squeeze the most out of every opportunity, to mislead/confuse/perplex/fool our adversaries, and keep everyone guessing about our true intentions until the dust settles and the Dolphins have the last laugh.

Sure, you can negotiate with only one guy if you want. Sure, you can let the whole world know who that is. But a monkey in pampers could have done the same thing, and for $4mil a year less.

I pray that Parcells is up to something, and I trust that he is.

Why buy hamburger, when you have your sights on a porterhouse steak? We know who we want....Jake Long. On to pick #32. :woot:

I am not buying it just yet either. Jake Long would actually be my favorite pick but this morning I woke up having the feeling that we will select Matt Ryan. And I don't want this to happen because I still believe we should select Chad Henne if a QB at all.

So go back to sleep.

I just keep going back to our needs. The hugest hole, for the longest time has been LT. Minus last years experiment with Carey at LT, we have not had one since Richmond Webb. Now if we could just get our Simms.

Alot of people are going to be disappointed when there's no tricks, no smokescreens, just BP signing J.Long. There are so many people that think they know BP and his every move, I guess that will be the biggest smokescreen is that he goes and signs J.Long.

To think that JI might have actually slipped at the tongue, info on signing J.Long may actually have slipped out, BP might actually draft someone else than a OLB in the first. I know this sounds boring but it makes good football sense, atleast alot more than all the conspiracy theories.

BANG ON!

To reiterate, when has BP ever been honest about a situation??? I'd be happy with either Long, but i'm not buying the fact that Jake is our guy because we are negotiating with him. I think the fact that he originally came out and said 'we will sign our pick before the draft' was the first of many smokescreens.
