Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports the Miami Dolphins would be forced to give up a fifth-round draft pick in 2007 to the Detroit Lions should QB Joey Harrington play in 35 percent of the team's offensive snaps this season. Harrington has already participated in 20.6 percent of snaps so far and is expected to start Week 6.

its only been 5 weeks.. harrington wont play the entire season.. and if he does, he deserves to cost a 5th. even if he hits 50% of the snaps by week 8 we still have another half of the season to go.

He would have to start 5 games to meet the criteria.

Maybe not even that many.

Game 1 - 58 plays

Game 2 - 59 plays

Game 3 - 68 plays

Game 4 - 58 plays

Game 5 - 63 plays

Joey had the offense 3 plays above the average.

christ...there is always some ****...we need picks so bad, whoever saban starts i support plain and simple, but damn this makes me won't pep back solely because this season is borderline over and we need our damn picks...maybe lemon can play instead.

thats why at the end of the season we trade away our bigger players for picks...we arent winning yet we have big names on our team. Channing Crowder CAN play MLB, and Zach would easily be taken for at least a 2nd. Chambers would easily be taken for a 2nd. Kevin Carter, probably a 3rd. Vonnie Holliday for a 4th. Jason Taylor even, for a 1st. I know it sounds STUPID to ditch these guys...but if it means bringing in NEW YOUNG guys...and getting rid of the older, expensive, guys who arent winning us games...ill take it. Even Olindo Mare, he's missing too many field goals. Somebody is bound to give up a 4th for him.

who cares about the pick right now.. you guys need to get your priorities straight. do you want to see the dolphins win or what? if culpepper plays he looks terrible and we all think theres no future, if lemon plays we get embarassed. theres reasons to why the fins traded for harrington, ALOT OF GOOD REASONS.

I think Saban has something in mind to get more draft picks for the upcoming draft and we will have to give up the 5th because Harrington will play the rest of the season.

Zach wouldn't get more than a 4th or 5th...too old and expensive

Chambers could fetch a 1st or a 2nd.

Carter and Holiday are worthless for trades.... they aren't good enough for a team to mortagae the future on.....maybe a conditional for Carter.

Taylor wouldn't get more than a 3rd, again, old and expensive.

Mare.....are you kidding....prople don't trade for kickers, they don't trade 4ths for kickers, and the especially don't trade 4th for Olindo mare.

Teams are really after aging players who've lost a step who cost alot from losing teams......its not the NHL

Yeah I had heard the threshold was 50% of snaps, not 35%.

That's what I heard as well. I hope we can get Daunte back in. I am POSATIVE Saban is aware of the stipulations.

There is a trading deadline, October 17 (next Tuesday) so you can't just dump players at any time.I don't support your strategy and I don't agree with the compensation.

It's my understanding that the number for Joey is 50%.

If we're so worried about a 5th round pick rather than winning, we can always start Cleo Lemon or Marty Booker at QB instead and trade our top most respected players for chump change.

Go Joey. Play well and win for the fins. Heck, go ahead and win on Thanksgiving day against us. At 0-5, our season is already over, so it doesn't matter. You beating us will be good for us in the long run. We'd get higher picks in every round next year, and an extra 5th instead of an extra 6th, and someone other than Matt Millen might be making the picks. Anything that gets Matt Millen fired is a good thing. You beating the Lions is a start. Ballgame!
