I had no idea our pass rush was doing this well getting to the QB. In some ways I think the stat is somewhat misleading because it seems to suggest we have a good pass rush. In reality, I think we all know that our pass rush is EXTREMELY inconsistent, with occasional solid pressure interspersed with zero rush that leaves the secondary exposed.

But it's still nice to see the [statistical] fruits of what we were all expecting at the beginning of the season.

Vikings 36
Eagles 30
Steelers 30
Broncos 29
Dolphins 29
Cardinals 28
Chargers 27
......
Patriots 18
Jets 18
......
Texans 13
Jaguars 10

Also good news for Henne is that the Texans and Jaguars don't often get to the QB, ranking second to last and last, respectively, in the league in sacks.

As much as we whine about having no pass rush at times, every other teams fans do the same thing and in comparison our pass rush is actually very solid. You're not going to put a ton of pressure on the QB on every play. The one thing we seemingly do suck at though is blitzing. I don't really consider JP, JT, or even Wake as blitzers when they go after the QB though in a 3-4.

Agree completely. Our base pass rush is pretty decent, but our blitzes always get picked up. I'm willing to bet the majority of our sacks have come from non-blitzes...I'm too lazy to watch enough tape to get my answer, lol.

It's scary because it seems like our pass rush is non existent often. It also seems like we get quite a few coverage sacks which is also strange considering we're in the bottom half of the league statistically in pass defense. Inconsistency in both areas seems to be the problem.

Actually, we are tied for 3rd. Eagles and Steelers are tied for 2nd.

Actually I think thats wrong, its Tied for 4th because we are tied, and we have 3 teams that have more sacks than us.

Its kind've like saying if every team had 15 interceptions, except for one team that had 14, that that team would be 2nd in the league in interceptions, when in reality, it would be last.

I see your thinking, and it is a little confusing, and their really is no point arguing about if we are 3rd or 4th.

lol at the people who thought our pass rush was bad. GET OWNED MOTHER****ERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a fun exercise. Cameron Wake has been in on 80 Pass Rush attempts. He has 6 QB Sacks, 3 QB Hits and 15 QB Pressures.

Jason Taylor has been in on 253 Pass Rush attempts. He has 6 QB Sacks, 4 QB Hits and 13 QB Pressures.

What if you gave Wake all of JT's Pass Rush attempts in addition to his own? In 10 games, Cameron Wake would have 25 QB Sacks, 12 QB Hits and 62 QB Pressures.

Over a 16 game schedule that would equate to 40 QB Sacks, 20 QB Hits and 100 QB Pressures.

That might get him a Pro Bowl bid. ;)

Haha! If life were like that, you wouldnt need a...

Wake hasbeen an extremely efficient pass rushing specialist......
when it comes to sure passing downs, one of those guys should come off the field for HIM ! We have ourselves a stud people... And as for Randy Starks.... well i'll just say i told you so.... this is why he got that big deal. He is a premiere 3-4 end now.
Then ofcourse JT and Peezy cause issues on their own, let alone being opposite each other. We get great pressure from our OLB's and even ends, and the safety blitzes have worked when dialed up. Top 5 is about what i would have expected.... hell we have 4 guys on pace for atleast 8 or 9 sacks !

i can't remember in what thread i put it but i did say we would lead the league in sacks
