The Dolphins have big plans for three of last year’s rookies. Philbin hopes the nagging injuries that hindered Daniel Thomas are behind him, and he can consistently perform like he did early last season. The coaches believe Clyde Gates has the speed and talent to become a stretch the field type receiver, contributing more than the two catches produced last season. But Gates will need to learn the west coast offense quickly or he’ll get left behind. And Ireland has high hopes that Charles Clay will become the seam threat tight end this offense is missing. If the Dolphins add another tight end it will be through the draft, not free agency. So cancel those Dallas Clark jerseys. http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...essons-learned-at-the-nfl-owners-meeting.html

I think Charles Clay has a lot of potential, but I've really seen nothing at all from Clyde Gates that gives me reason for optimism.

Clay has a lot of upside. Gates didnt see the field much last year..Which was not his fault...and even if he did see the field i doubt he would have seen alot of passes..

I think thats basically what we're all hoping for.. Clay looked great catching and running with the ball after he caught it.

As I recall Gates had really good speed but didn't run very good patterns too be where he needed too be. He needs some coaching. Seems like he has the ability.

Well see what they have with a totally new offense in place. As the defense has held strong for years, the offense needs to be on the same page.

I believe Clay and DT could have some good seasons....Gates needs to be use different.....I'd like to see him rn a crossing route so he can use his speed and go around DB's.

Ozzy rules!!

By the sounds of it we will only be drafting one receiver so we probably will have a worse group than last year, unless Clyde proves us all wrong

Gates saw the field plenty last year, it was just hard to tell because he was so irrelevant.

gates has also got to be the worst return man i think we have ever used consistently

Really? He saw the field plenty? Id like to know how many offensive plays he was in on(not kick returns)...I bet its not many.

Everyone knew Gates was a project coming in and they never threw the ball to him on top of that. I don't know what anyone exepected.
