-15.2 is the difference between dansby/burnett and ellerbe/wheeler unreal. Would love to have dansby back to help plug up some of these gaping holes
 
Losing Dansby is not hurting as much as losing Burnett. Wheeler is just plain awful.

Ellerbe at least has an interception...how many turnovers did Dansby cause while he was here? And I think he was our highest paid defender.
 
Our LB's are awful in run support and a huge reason why the run defense is much worse.
 
Wheeler is bad. Having Trusnick in there last night was even worse.
 
The huge drop in production against the run on defense is directly correlated to the addition of Ellerbee/Wheeler. I don't see any other reason, all the same guys on defense are still here, these dudes are garbage, Wheeler especially.
 
Wheeler sucks, and Dansby is average at best. But, seriously Jason Trusnik?? That guy wouldn't start on Alabama, FSU, Stanford, etc

Wouldn't you just put Jordan at LB to get his athleticism on the field? Trusnik? Are you kidding me.

Not sure of where the -15.2 you have is from. Last year overall, Burnett was +11.9 and Dansby +6 totaling +17.9. This year, in 9 games, Wheeler is -10.6, and Ellerbe -2.3 totaling -12.9. That would be a difference of 30.8.

On the run. Burnett/Dansby +14, and Wheeler/Ellerbe -10.9, a 24.9 difference.

Let's add in Jones- +22 last year, and -10.3 this year, a 32.3 difference.

Did you use the signature stats?
 
Ireland's FA spending was a lot less exciting when you factor in that two of the guys he signed were straight up replacements for two other guys who were big signings. Those guys had underperformed here as well, at least in terms of making plays when it mattered to win games, but even at the time I saw this move as a "push".

yes we did...he's a solid 2 down strong side backer...pretty good tackler too and strong at the poa...we missed him something fierce...
 
I just posted in another thread Misi is our best linebacker, we can't stop the run or cover without him in the game. As far as Jordan playing linebacker I would love to see him and Vernon both on the field, swapping back and forth between wslb and end to confuse offenses. We have a better personal to play more of a 34 style defense.
 
Six drafts later how many MLBs did Ireland draft in the top 5 rounds?
