Miami has regained control of its playoff fate. Today’s losses by the Jets and Pats mean that if the Fins win out, they win the division, no matter what the other teams do.

The same is true for the Jets -- but not the Pats, who cannot win the division without help.

Miami would win tiebreaks over the Jets or Pats, together or separately, at 11-5. Note that this is not necessarily true at 10-6.

The Jets hold two advantages. First, they could potentially lose one of their next three games and still play for the division title in week 17. However, this would also let the Pats back into contention. Second, they are guaranteed the division with three wins and then a tie in week 17, while Miami isn’t.

I have a feeling that the Week 17 game against the Jets will be for the division title.

Ok, So, not to sound stupid at all but if we win out we win the division no matter what??

If Miami wins out and finishes 11-5, they win the Division. All the tie-breakers would turn over to the Dolphins. By that point, if Miami doesn't already have a better Division record, they would beat the Pats and Jets in the common games tie-breaker.

Yes, no matter what. I can post why that's true a little later, if anyone wants to see it.
Yea man I would love to see it, I just Dont understand how If the jets win out and we win out we still win the division. Dont get me wrong I do believe you i just dont really understand how it all works.

The Jets and Dolphins play each other, so both cannot win out.

Both teams play in Week 17 so both winning out is impossible

yep if we win out its aces. if we don't.... well at least we are a lot better off than last year. :)

Baltimore has a pretty brutal schedule the rest of the way. I think it is very possible that even at 10-6, we can sneak in as a wildcard.

We still have a chance at the Wild-Card as well. You've got to like having control of your own destiny and some insurance options as well.

That said, with the loss of Camarillo and now Smiley, I hope we have enough firepower left.
