Dolphins have to face the harsh reality about receiver Jaylen Waddle (& 2021 draft)

I think both Smitty and Waddle can put up better numbers as WR1s. Not sure if either can truly become “elite” but they’d do fine as a WR1 with the right complimentary group around them, IMO. The key for Miami is replacing Tyreek Hill with a receiver with size and physicality.

Chase is in a league of his own. Chase and Jettas are the best WRs in football. I love Waddle but in hindsight we should have stayed put and drafted Chase. I know most of you wanted Kyle Pitts though. 😉

Playing the hindsight game….. we could have drafted Jefferson at 18 in 2020 and Chase at 3 in 2021 instead of the trade down/trade up for Waddle and giving up multiple picks including a 1 for Tyreek. Oh well.

Wishful thinking for me: New GM, trade Waddle, if you can, for more picks. Rebuild underway. We are going for prototype this time around. Ground and pound, baby!

Oldest defense in the league, 2 NFL starters on the Oline, no true Y TE and someones wasting time writing an article complaining about a guy who gets a thousand yards receiving every year. He should apply to be on McD's staff.

It could be much worse......we could have drafted Kyle Pitts like many on here wanted....finheaven obsession with drafting tight ends.
I'm not gonna lie I liked him and wanted him. But not before Sewell though. But we desperately needed weapons that year. Tuas best receiver the year before was mack friggan Hollins. But remember, we haven't had a damn good te in forever. So that's why. But yeah Pitts hasn't exactly turned out as good as his draft status that's for sure.

too many commercials and making babies
His oline isn’t helping him this year, but he still has plenty of “hold my beer, I’ve got this” moments left in their “down” season when they lead the league in wins.

In response to your last paragraph, that's exactly how a good GM would've done it. Gotta love Grier

Imagine if we could re-do the 2020 to 2023 drafts.

2020

R1. OT Tristan Wirfs - Pro Bowl
R1. WR Justin Jefferson - Pro Bowl
R1. QB Jordan Love
R2. DB Jaylon Johnson - Pro Bowl
R2. S Jeremy Chinn
R3. DT Nnamdi Madubuike - Pro Bowl

2021

R1. DB Patrick Surtain II - Pro Bowl - Lets say we did what Grier did trading down then up.
R1. DE Gregory Rousseau - He has been more durable than Phillps and has the same # of sacks.
R2. C Landon Dickerson - Pro Bowl
R2. LB Jeremiah Okwosu-Karamoa - Pro Bowl - No trade up so we keep our 2023 3rd.
R3. WR Nico Collins - instead of Hunter Long

2022

R1. DB Trent McDuffie - The first round pick we gave up for Hill.
R2. TE Trey McBride - The second round pick we gave up for Hill.
R3. LB Nakobe Dean - The pick we gave up to trade up for Liam.
R3. LB Leo Chenal - Instead of Channing Tindall
R4. OG Zach Tom - Instead of Erik Ezukanma

2023

R1. WR Jordan Addison - If Ross wasn't an idiot and didn't forfeit our pick.
R2. RB Zach Charbonet - Instead of Cam Smith
R3. S Jordan Battle - Instead of Achane

Its just conversation going back in time on prior draft choices. If I didn't marry 1st wife I wouldn't have my 3 awesome humans we produced. Let's move forward on what needs to be done to achieve better results.

My concern is having play makers at WR (proved from last season) and now they are basically redundant with the Offensive playcalling. This is like watching a different team on Offense. I hear its purely because the teams QB is now a protected species and isn't allowed to be kept in the pocket for longer that 0.5 secs.
Last season he had the quickest release time and put up big stats. Am I missing something? You can't even say the run game is compensating as I'm not seeing any long runs at RB when we know they have ability. It stinks.

Dude had unrealistic hype for sure. He's not bad and it's not his fault his hype was too unrealistic. I literally remember the scouting report on Kyle Pitts by Daniel Jerimiah from nfl.com (whom I like and respect) said something to the affect of "I think when it's all said and done Kyle Pitts will have a gold jacket in canton one day." Lol that's ridiculous expectation for any rookie.

Bowers is the first TE to be drafted high to actually live up to their hype.....so far.
