Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase, left talks with Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, second from left. The men who run the Miami Dolphins football side are scrambling to keep their jobs behind the scenes while the team is trying to make an improbable playoff run. David Santiago dsantiago@miamiherald.com

For everyone to see, this Sunday is all about football for the Miami Dolphins. The team got special permission from the NFL to wear throwback uniforms and helmet logos again. The end zones have been freshly painted with the old “Dolphins” script from the Orange Bowl days. And, of course, the order of the day is to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars and continue the current desperate and improbable push to make the playoffs.

Dolphins football late in December ... We still have a small chance!

And then there’s what you don’t see.

Well, that article doesn't tell us much other than Ross always seems to listen to the wrong people. That approach to build a winner while still trying to win now just doesn't work. Most teams in the last 20 years that have gone from bad to good have done it after a couple of real bad seasons. They get some high draft picks and make a run. Going 8-8 every year doesn't get you anywhere other than more 8-8 seasons. Ross needs to just let go of T-baum and grier and bring a GM that will pick his HC. That's where you start.

Who knew Tannenbaum had a backer? It couldn't get any worse then that. Typical Ross, seems to have too many Jet types in his ear. This man is like a spinning wheel, always the same #$@$%$#!!! Figures Gase is all over the injury excuse. While true, it's his now private excuse for his inability to be both Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach. He's in over his head and his buddy system for DC is a total train wreck!!! Figures this would happen. Ross can't get out of his own way!!!

My ideal situation: Fire tbaum and Grier, bring in a new football Czar and let him pick his GM. Keep Gase minimum 1 more year and see how their dynamic works together and if they can find improvement/success. If it doesnt work let the Czar fire Gase and find a new coach and QB in 2020.

Tbum seems to have plenty of backers, mainly bc he seems like a nice, loyal type of person. Unfortunately, that doesnt mean crap when it comes to running a football team and scouting talent. The worst part is Tbum is the main guy in the owners ear all day long, likely dropping hints trying to save his job and placing blame elsewhere. The only hope is that people outside the franchise are giving Ross sound advice. Didn't realize Higgins was the reason for the hire, makes me like him a little less now.

Well so of this article is true it means Higgins has Ross’s ear and Mike T is safe, which I agree is bad.

If the choice was that or Tom G Grier and Gase, I would prefer that scenario temporarily at least.

Tom G is about the only solid thing we know this organization has going for it...

I do wonder if Adam's Gase's system would take off if Miami had a better offensive line. Honestly, if they stick with Tannehill at quarterback protecting him should be the priority. Look at what Indy did in the offseason to help Luck. It's no wonder Luck has had a resurgence behind one of the vastly improved lines in football.

As fans, we talk a lot about the dink and dunk approach of Gase, but a lot of that is due to an offensive line that is so weak it takes away a lot of other options.

The offensive line isn't the only problem, but the Dolphins have nice deep threats with Stills and Grant that are underutilized in the that respect. Stills IMO is open deep a lot, but you need the line to give the quarterback a little more time.

Besides the offensive line, which was hurt by injuries, my biggest disappointment this season has been the play of the defensive ends. Only one team has fewer sacks than Miami and that's hard to explain with Wake and Quinn on the team.

The offseason should include replacing Burke at defensive coordinator, and getting more physical on both sides of the ball with the focus on defensive line and offensive line.

But...but...but, we're just an offensive line away from the Super Bowl because that's all Tannehill needs.

The more I read about this team’s executive management the more I question Ross’ priorities. The whole “doesn’t even work in SF” bugs me. What if the entire reason T-Dumb is there is Marketing. Butts in seats. “Step right up, come see the 8th wonder of the world - Donkey Kong Suh - brought to you for $26mm a year - we spare no expense to bring you the best talent the world has to offer”. He’s always loved the splash moves. Even HC - I know I’m in the minority, but we could have rolled w Dan Campbell - who the players loved, respected and played hard, physical football for. Instead, we hired a guy that the carnival barker Tannenbaum could promote as the next genius who will revolutionize offense - it’s always about reaching for the sexy story w this team under T-Baum. What if that’s what Ross wants him to do? The lateral play or Wilson 75 yard zig zag TD type plays are what sells - not ground it out, physical football that wins when you don’t have a top 5 QB. Really starting to think it’s just about the money while trying not to alienate the fan base - because the latter has a direct impact on the former.

“Wasting away again in Mediocreville” - should hire Jimmy Buffet again to write us a new theme song.

but , but , nobody has ever said that.
Not literally...but, but, but EVERYONE who supports our JAG behind center is saying that...unless they are simply saying that improving the o-line is good enough for the wildcard game.

I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the case...that's as high as they can possibly aim do to past performances.

Until we get someone to replace him, I’m going to support him, i’m not going complain about him in every thread like somebody’s got their finger up my ass.

That's your choice...live with it.

My choice is different...and I will live with mine.

You can always place me on ignore if my opinion offends your sensibilities abut Tannehill...or not respond to my posts when I'm critical of our QB.

Your play....
