#Dolphins also announce that former assistant GM Eric Stokes will now serve as senior personnel executive for the team

We're bringing back Chris Foerester, eh? He was our OC in 2004 the year Ricky quit.

Foerster is iffy, I remember him being the guy Wanny made OC right before the disasterous 2004 year, though to be fair he was not ready.

He's been up and down as an OL coach.

Day worked with Gase in San Fran, learning under Gruden isn't bad in Washington

University of Michigan (2006)
In 2006, Day became an offensive quality control coach at the University of Michigan, where he worked with future NFL quarterback Chad Henne.

San Francisco 49ers (2007-2009)
Day served as the 49ers' quality control coach for three years, two years under offensive coordinator Mike Martz, who later hired Day to work for him in Chicago. Day oversaw the quarterbacks in 2007, running backs in 2008, and the offensive line in 2009. He was also part of the staff that coached the South team during the 2008 Senior Bowl.

Chicago Bears (2010-2011)
Day was hired by the Bears on February 5, 2010 as their quarterbacks coach. He was recommended for the job by the then offensive coordinator Mike Martz, with whom Day had worked with for two seasons in San Francisco. Day helped the Bears reach the NFC Championship game in 2010.

University of Connecticut Huskies (2012-2013)
Day was hired as the new University of Connecticut quarterbacks coach on January 24, 2012 to replace Joe Moorehead, who had left for the head coach position at Fordham University.[4] Day called plays for the Husky offense the final 3 games of 2013 in which the offense took off, setting several school records, and leading to 3 consecutive wins against Temple, Rutgers, and Memphis.

Washington Redskins (2014-present)
On January 23, 2014, it was reported that Day would be joining the Redskins. It was later announced that he would be their assistant Offensive line coach.

ASSISTANT OFFENSIVE LINE

In his first season in Washington, Day helped guide a unit that produced a repeat Pro Bowl selection (tackle Trent Williams) and paved the way for Pro Bowl running back Alfred Morris to produce a third consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season.

When it comes to the OL I'm hyped for anyone new they bring in as I find it impossible that it could be as bad or worse as its been in recent years.

Worked under Mike Shanahan in Washington from 2010 to 2013 when Mike left/was fired.

Chris Foerster is entering his 22nd season of developing some of the game’s top offensive linemen in 2014 in his fifth season as Offensive Line Coach of the Washington Redskins.
OFFENSIVE LINE
Foerster presided over the offensive line partially responsible for the NFL’s top rushing attack across the 2012-13 seasons, helping the Redskins amass a league-leading 4,873 in that two-season span. Washington (5.01) was one of only two NFL teams to average at least 5.0 yards per carry across those two years. In 2013, Foerster’s unit powered the Redskins to the fifth-most rushing yards in the league (2,164) and helped the Redskins rush for 2,000 yards in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2005-06. He oversaw the continued development of tackle Trent Williams, who earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl berth for his play in 2013.

I like that Day seems to have a broad spectrum of experience coaching different positions, and that Mike Martz liked him enough to go to bat for him, but I'm a little concerned that he has no experience coaching receivers or tight ends.

He looks like the guy I picture at the other end of the phone line when calling your cable company for tech support.

The Dolphins are putting together a rat pack of really good (mostly young) coaches. Heard nothing but good things about Shane Day too.

Interesting. Pro Football Reference has it different.

It was reported that Foerster recently interviewed and was one of three candidates the Colts were considering for one of their offensive line coaching positions.

Foerster spent last season with the San Francisco 49ers as their offensive line coach, but could be on the move as 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula was recently fired–meaning a new coaching staff could be coming in or Foerster could be seeking a new opportunity all together.

Prior to this season, the 54 year old coach spent 5 years as the Washington Redskins offensive line coach (2010-14). Before joining the Redskins, Foerster had his 1st tour of duty coaching the San Francisco 49ers offensive line (2008-09).

However, he’s also coached the offensive line of the Baltimore Ravens (2005-07), having also been their assistant head coach during that time.

It’s not the 1st time that Foerster could potentially be a coach for the Colts, as he served as the team’s tight ends coach during the 2002-03 seasons. Foerster coached one of the Colts all-time tight end greats Dallas Clark during his rookie season in 2003, as well as fellow tight end standout Marcus Pollard for two seasons.

Prior to joining the Colts, Foerster served as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive line coach from 1996-2001. He has over 33 seasons of coaching experience.
