Dolphins hire Tannebaum as consultant

So what is the role? What kind of beneficial consulting could he possibly provide?

This is what the press release says:

Tannenbaum will consult with the Dolphins on a variety of projects involving innovation, analytics and sports science. He will continue in his role at Priority Sports and Entertainment

This is what the press release says:

Ugh, I understand Tannenbaum is considered a "numbers" guy, but that certainly didn't appear to be the case given the woeful contracts offered to Buttfumble and Tebow. I really don't want this guy's stink anywhere near my team.

BTW, if this is the case, Beasley was incorrect previously. If he is consulting on data science and analytics for the team, it DOES deal with on-field matters. That is the entire purpose of the analytics department, to help evaluate talent.

What the hell does Tannenbaum know about sports science? This is a way to get him ready for a bigger job next year with the Dolphins, IMO.

i don't get the anger. the dude was hired as a consultant. i don't see any harm, plus he might have some solid insight regarding the jets.

Tannenbaum's role with the Dolphins is small... Ryan Herman, however, it seems like he has Dawn Aponte's old role before she became a VP.

It's essentially the same as hiring Mark Sanchez to consult on the QB position...

Why anybody would accept this as acceptable i have no idea. Jets trash needs to be tossed on the heap and burned for good measure :puke:

Get ready because I expect him to be the GM next year with Mangini as his coach. Ross has been trying to hire both of them for years.

Sounds like he is not in the football ops. Leave Dennis alone to do his work. Tannebaum has big supporter in Aponte.

I have no use for whatever Tannebaum says on TV. I literally have no respect for what he says...in one ear and out the other.

While I am not a Philbin guy in slightest, I feel for him in that if things go down hill in a hurry, there are so many U-boat captains around they will attempt to torpedo the season.

He will find his way into the football ops, that entire front office is full of Tannenbaum disciples.

People always seem to forget that Stephen Ross loves the Jets and tried to buy that team before he eventually bought the Dolphins.

The strange thing about this hire is that Tannenbaum is primarily known as a cap guy. That's his specialty. He's not really a "football guy." What's so odd is that we already have a top flight capologist in the building in the person of Dawn Aponte. That's Aponte's primary role.

So this sort of strikes me perhaps as a prelude to Aponte's exit. She might want to take a league job or has a quid pro quo GM offer on the table for next year.
