With eight days left until the Dolphins report to training camp, three of their eight 2009 draft picks remain unsigned.
Should Dolfans be worried?
Not as worried as fans of the Buffalo Bills, who have only three picks under contract and will be the first NFL team to open full-squad workouts when they take the field Saturday in Rochester, N.Y. And according to one agent, it could be some time before the Bills come to terms with their top choice, defensive end Aaron Maybin.
In comparison, the Dolphins are in great shape, said agent David Canter, who announced Thursday that one of his clients, second-round cornerback Sean Smith, had agreed to terms with Miami.
"The Dolphins are one of the more aggressive teams about getting deals done," Canter said.
The Dolphins' lone holdout last year was second-round quarterback Chad Henne, who missed one workout.
Indications are that second-round quarterback Pat White and sixth-round safety Chris Clemons will sign well in advance of the reporting date. The status of first-round cornerback Vontae Davis likely will depend on how quickly the players taken just before and after him sign, but one league source said he expects a flurry of agreements soon because most camps open next week.
