ORLANDO -- The Jets are looking to add another offensive skill position piece to the puzzle, but general manager John Idzik may first have to fend off a pair of division rivals.

The Daily News has learned that the Jets, Patriots, Dolphins and Steelers are in the hunt to land veteran running back Maurice Jones-Drew. The teams are expected to meet with the Jones-Drew camp at league meetings this week.

The News reported two weeks ago that the Jets had serious interest in the former Jaguars running back. Jones-Drew, 29, visited the Steelers last week, but left without signing a contract.

A CBS Sports report last week indicated that Jones-Drew, who has spent eight seasons in Jacksonville, was looking for $3.5 million per year in a new deal, but two sources said that number is high. The Dolphins brought in Broncos free-agent running back Knowshon Moreno for a visit last week, but he left without a deal.

I like this better than Moreno, just a bit leery of injuries but that's gonna be an issue with any RB that's been in this league for 8 years.
 
I like him but I think I would pass on a 29 year old running back coming off leg injuries. My gut says stay away...

ETA- I think he probably has one good year left in him and then will start to decline fast. Not the sort of thing you want to build a contract around.
 
hopefully we're just in this to drive the price up for the jets/pats.
 
I was in the camp in favor of signing Moreno just because he was an upgrade....well MJD is probably better than Moreno so Im all for this as well.
 
We need a better RB desperately. Replace Diane Thomas is a must. I would definitely try to sign him. He runs hard, and still has the gears.
That said, Carlos Hyde in round 2.

At this point, MJD is more of a name than a talent. He had a bad year, other than blocking, and I see no chance here, with good reason.

Curious to see where MJD lands. #Steelers have interest, but so do the teams in the AFC East. Explains why Moreno, Blount on hold.
