The plans to bulldoze the Miami Dolphins' offensive line were already drawn up. The unit's struggles in 2013, which included a franchise-record 58 sacks allowed, warranted the unit got a makeover this offseason.

But the Ted Wells report on the Dolphins' locker room culture, and its details of the troublesome behavior by key starters on Miami's offensive line merely reinforced the organization's need to start fresh.
The Dolphins will have roughly $30 million in cap space this offseason, and that's before possibly restructuring some contracts, or possibly releasing players to create more cap space.

It still amazes the money and picks that went into the oline. What an epic failure by ireland, hope hickey can turn it around

I better see 6-10 guys brought in via FA and the Draft. This should NEVER EVER EVER EVER be a problem again going forward! EVER!

I can't wait to see how the o-line looks next season.

I actually feel very much at ease knowing we can only go up in performance from that despicable excuse of an o-line we put on the field last year.

Hope we make the right decisions.

The nice thing is that Miami can at least look the part of punishing players by not re-signing guys like Incognito and Jerry, but they were never going to be part of the 2014 plans anyways. Any suspensions to Incognito or Jerry really doesn't matter to the Dolphins anymore. Also Jim Turner was only really kept around so they could fire/suspend him once the report came out, they already replaced him with John Benton and Ben Martin.

I still don't think we will lose any draft picks and Philbin is not in danger, so the only punishment from a Dolphins standpoint we have to worry about is Mike Pouncey. Sadly, he will likely be suspended, but it shouldn't be more than 4 games(might even be less). Plus Pouncey can appeal it and whatever he gets could still be reduced before the season starts.

Id like to think so! Look how bad they played

offensive line was a huge priority regardless. let's put together a line that can crack the top 10 by the end of this season, add some running backs and then see how our offense looks.

It still amazes me how much over the years we have emphasized building our OL with two HC's that were OL coaches and yet we got as bad as we have.

What is the constant with both head coaches? Jeff Ireland, what brought the guy down was his failure to put together an o line. No matter how much he spent money and draft pick wise he could never put together a cohesive line.

How is Omar's story of them ordering a Code Red doing? He is a bum.

Sure it was, cause they can't put anything on the internet that isn't true.

so, do you feel after the first few games of 2013 (prior to bullygate), the team was satisfied with Martin - Incognito - Pouncey - Jerry - Clabo as our O-line for last season, and moving forward into the future?

i certainly don't.

No, but they have been singing this song of rebuilding/fixing the Oline every offseason and it's still got more holes than a macrame blanket. Tired of the talk, wake me when someone actually fixes the ****ing problem.

I know right. Jake Long was drafted first overall after Joe Thomas was already in the league. Mike Pouncey was the highest center ever drafted. Samson Satele (just before Ireland?) was a 2nd rounder taken before the higher rated Matt Kalil. John Jerry was a 3rd round pick maybe? High priced free agents rotated through like Smiley, that injured C, Incognito, Clabo, McKinnie. Soooooo much invested in a dysfunctional and non-producing OL. Ireland was good at drafting DL, but OL seemed to mystify him. Sparano ruined Jake Long, and we're just now hearing about Pouncey ... so did Ireland get any OL right?

Kalil was taken one pick before Satele by Carolina. Ryan Kalil, not Matt Kalil. Matt is Ryan's younger brother, top 5 pick by Minnesota.
