Dolphins interested in Byrd

You win in this league with playmakers...if you can get one you pay him.

You pay the other slugs less and pay the playmakers.

That is why I think Soliai and Starks will be gone, to much cap to spend on non-playmakers. Nice players but their role can be easily filled.

Byrd is the playmaking safety we should have had when Ireland should have drafted Earl Thomas and traded down instead.

By all means...Mr. Hickey proceed sir!

I agree with Bluefin... we need more playmakers.. we've had solid players forever seems like but not many game changers. Solia and Starts are very good players... but they will never be confused for playmakers. Especially now with the way the league is going... more and more teams are going away from power football and are throwing it around more... so we need to have a secondary that can combat that trend and considering we have of the best QB's in our division... I think we have to at least try to sign Byrd... We can find someone to plug into the DT spot, and we only need one true starter as Odrick can replace on DT spot. Secondary and Pass rushing DE's are the keys to success in this league.

Is there really any other team willing to pay what Byrd wants?

Offer Byrd a record backloaded contract to stroke his ego, but make the up front guaranteed money far more reasonable and see if he bites.

I can't remember the last time a team that spent big money on a safety in free agency, and it worked out for them.

Uh-oh, has Cleveland pulled out of the Byrd sweepstakes?

Based on a source close to Donte Whitner, He is likely headed to the #Browns when the signing period begins

Parker completely over estimated Byrds market.

Now doing what he can to show the Bills to up your offer.

There is an agreement that Byrd will allow Bills to try and match anything he gets. And they already offered him a deal that would have given him 30M over the q's 3 years. Which has never been turned down and is still on the table.

Unless we seriously over pay I do not think Miami is in this race.

Word is that Jairus Byrd's asking price has scared some teams off. He's looking for more than $8 million per year, and may well get it.

Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs 3m

Was told last night current price for Jairus Byrd was $8 mil, TJ Ward $7 mil and Donte Whitner $6 mil per season. No idea where it is today.

Seems free agent FS Jairus Byrd's price is already coming down. Initially said to be seeking $9M per year, now reports say $8M annually

I don't think its about how much money so much, its where you spend your money. But how about Antrell Rolle, Giants 2010....won a Championship.

Playmakers are where you should spend it, Byrd is a playmaker.

Safeties can be game changers. Look at how many of the Champions lately had good safeties.....Earl Thomas last year (Should have been a Dolphin), Ed Reed the year before that, Antrell Rolle the year before that, Nick Collins the year before that, Darren Sharper the year before that, Troy Polumalu the year before that......that a pretty good run of teams winning it all with playmaking safeties.

Byrd?....Yes please!

if cleveland is going after whitner sounds to me like they may be losing ward...isn't he the strong safety in cleveland...that would be a downgrade to whitner for sure

There are approximately 12 teams that have "expressed interest" or "inquired" about Cleveland Browns safety T.J. Ward, according to Aaron Wilson via the National Football Post. Ward is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on Tuesday.

If Cleveland pulled out on Byrd and we also have serious interests, that only leaves us, the Rams and Bills bidding for Byrd. From what I have heard today.
