Could there be a reunion in the works?

@Pete_BBS: #REPORT: Kansas City's top cornerback, Sean Smith is reportedly available for a 6th rounder. Pats could be interested.

@PhinsDiehard: Rumors that the phins might be trading for sean smith

Sean Smith was one of those big personalities that Philbin wanted off the team, but Campbell (the anti-Philbin) may have had other thoughts. For a 6th round pick, it might be worth bringing him back to help solidify the secondary

Doubt it. Dolphins are still an off-man coverage team and that's still Sean Smith's weakness.

Why are they trading him? Haven't followed him since he left.

I'm pretty sure this is based on an article on NFL.com about trades Gil Brandt wishes would happen. Sean Smith isn't going anywhere.

He is still a big body with some talent, it's not like the rest of our secondary outside of Grimes is lighting the world up. If Grimes went down that secondary would be serious trouble. For a 6th you don't think it would be worth the extra security?

Is he the only corner available at that price? What's the cap hit and contract structure?

**** Sean Smith. Maybe he'll sign a football that he intercepts in practice while guarding Jeff Fuller

Well, despite their win over Pittsburgh it’s not looking good for them in the playoffs picture at 2-5, trailing far behind 6-0 Denver. At some point soon they have to consider beginning preparations for 2016 and that means collecting more draft picks. Smith is in the final year of current deal. Given the presence of first round pick Marcus Peters, third round pick Steven Nelson and the anticipated return of Phillip Gaines (IR) they have the depth required for such a move to be possible.

After all, Smith did miss the first three games of the season and the defense got on just fine without him. It’s the right situation and ingredients to produce a trade. The sticking point will be whether Kansas City is willing to deal the corner to an AFC rival.

and there was this..

The Kansas City Chiefs will be without cornerback Sean Smith for the first three games of the regular season.

The seventh-year cover man was suspended from the league for violating the league's substance-abuse policy after pleading guilty in April on a 2014 DUI charge, the team announced on Friday.

teams trying to set a physical tone and you guys want to bring in this fairy

Smith was one of the most frustrating Dolphins I've ever followed. Just thinking of him coming back to Miami makes me cringe.

Having said that, he has more natural talent than any cornerback here outside Grimes....

I believe Sean still holds the record for most interceptions that were dropped after the ball hit you right in the hands.
