Dolphins interview Hickey, Caserio and Dawson today

I just hope we are smart enough to make sure the guy we pick will accept the position. It will look awful if they decline the offer and we have to settle for our 2nd choice (or 3rd).

This is not over. Not only does the brass need to pick a guy, but they need to come up with a deal for the winner to take. Still a ways to go.

While I am certainly no expert on Gaine's background, I keep hearing very good things about him from the talking heads around the NFL. I don't think his selection would be settling at all. Everyone like Caserio and hopefully, some of the Patriots success and attitude comes with him......but Gaine is likely the more experienced of the two.

I think I will be happy with either selection.

It is interesting that Hickey got a second interview. I have read that his speciality is College football and he is very strong in player analysis. The other three candidates are younger. He wasn't in the mix for the Tampa Bay GM role, but they were probably seeking someone with the negotiation experience and Dawn Aponte has that covered here. He might be in with a much better chance than many on here expect.
I wouldn't be surprised if they used the interviews as an opportunity to glean information and try to identify best practices.
Caserio is described as extremely bright and I really like that he has had a year of coaching experience in his resume. The other thing that he has going for him is that he has the people skills to be able to successfully work with Bill Belichick, who we know can be extremely difficult Head Coach to work for. For all four it represents a promotion. Some people are better able to make the transition than others.
It is frustrating to wait but it sounds like a very thorough process has been followed. I would expect Nick Casario to be the favorite.

All good points. We cannot rule out that Hickey or Dawson might be offered another position within the team. Additional money might bring them over. I would try to surround the GM and coach with as many experts as possible. Obviously our talent acquisition has not been very good. If Ross can land Caserio, retain Gaine, and add a Dawson or hickey, we did quite well. Adding some new blood in some capacity would be terrific for our outlook. just my .02

The only real feedback we've heard about any of the interviews was how much they liked Hickey. I wouldn't be surprised by anyone they pick at this point. The two guys that NE had starting and making a big difference at the end of the season both were drafted by Tampa Bay. The RB and CB

Oh stop. Im sure they already know who they want. The candidate does too.

The guys who are here want the job. Plain as that or they wouldn't have wasted their time.

If Ross wants a splash it'll be Caserio

Exactly. Hickey likely won't be retained by Tampa after the draft. I think the Hickey interview increases the likelihood of promoting Gaine, with the thought that Hickey can serve as an assistant GM.

The Dolphins GM finalists are all 43 or younger. Caserio is the youngest at 38. Gaine is 40, Dawson is 42 and Hickey is 43.
