Hi, this is my first post here, I check in on a daily basis and enjoy the talk very much. My husband and I have gotten tickets to the Jets game, this will be our first trip to a Dolphins game (we live in Virginia), and we'd like to get some ideas on how early to get to the game and if there are any things we should do at the stadium or anywhere we should go to get the best out of our trip. We're both long time fans (since the 70's!) and are very excited to make the trip.:D

Welcome, I can't answer since I don't go to many games, but it shall be fun. Where do you live in Virginia?

Okat well make sure you get there a little early. Because it gets kinda flooded. And I bet it will be crazy for this game so I'd get there at the VERY latest, at noon. But the earlier the better. And since you are coming down from Virginia, you should hit one of the many beaches, depending on how long you're staying in the area and what not.

How long are you staying and where are your seats? If you do not mind me asking.

Weclome! I can try and answer some of your questions and I am certain others will chime in. So here goes...

1. Get there EARLY! Parking is always full and for this game it will be packed.
2. Once you are there you will fidn plenty to do. First of all just walking through the parking areas and seeing the sites is great funs. You can then go to the gate G area where they always have games, food, live radio broadcasts, contests, etc. Plenty to do and see.
3. The concession food is outrageously expensive and the lines are rediculous. If you want to drop the money at the counter then do it before half time because you can't get through the entire line before the game starts again. If you want to save about $50 bring your own and eat before the game.
4. It will be so hot you can not stand it. Dress loose, light and comfy. If you have those neck wraps that you can use to keep cool I would bring them, they also usually sell them. But it will be hot.
5. This game in particular will be worth all of the above. 70,000 plus fans screaming, Favre and the hated Jets in a home opener, f-16 jet flyovers after the national anthem along with fireworks, etc. It is awesome!

Let me know if you have more questions.

If you get there at noon...it is too late. I would get there at the latest 11AM but more like 10AM is even better. Trust me the time goes fast.

Also, rumor has it that there will be a monster offical Finheaven tailgate!:d-day:

Just thought I would add some thoughts now that I just saw the Jets/Giants game.

First off, my perception of Farve is correct. He dinks and dunks alot. Thomas Jones not real effective IMO as he was billed. It is preseason but he did not impress as much as he was billed last year.

Farve had some nice bullets to Cotchery. I wonder what Laverneous is doing? TD called back on a typical penalty our offense would commit after a TD. On the bad side? I think deep down Farve is not as happy as he thought he would be. I think there may be some regret here. Just a hunch. I have heard some articles predicting he will retire again after this season. Overall I think the Jets D can be run on. Jenkins is a beast though. Alot of money put on these guys. I dont think the end result will dictate they are worth it.

One thing I can say for sure is that Farve will see more pressure from us than he did vs. Giants. We rush 5 and 6 alot and apply pressure at the corners. Farve gets rid of the ball quickly but if we rattle him early, he will deflate. O sure, he will try like hell to recover and make a play, and he probably will, but deep down I think this stout D will make him wish he stayed retired.

I saw a fake up-the-gut, fake end-around-screen pass, which didnt work as well as they had hoped. Also ran a WR screen which worked like a charm but pointing out simple stuff here. You can bet BP and Sparano will be studying that. They kept it simple I think minus Cotchery who looks like the #1 target.

The defense can be run on. They may stuff us alot early but Penne/Henning will open it up as they have done this preseason. Ricky will find the creases against these guys as the game wears on in the heat. I do not think we missed on Long vs. Gholsten. He whiffed on one play going inside and they ran right around him. Not that Long hasnt whiff himself, but the impact Long makes to this team will not be close when you add it all up in the end. Gholsten may be better by end of season but right now, not all that. All in all, no scoring in this one at all until the 4th qtr practically. I am not afraid of Farve and I hope our players show no mercy on this 39 year old.

Wow, really? Thanks for the heads up. Guess I'll have to leave earlier than usual.....from the Tampa area it's about a 3 hour drive.

Miami/Jets Game

Hi, I just got back online to see all the great replies. Thanks a bunch. We live in Fredericksburg, Virginia, half way between Richmond, Virginia and Washington, DC. I'm thinking we'll probably go around 10 or so, since we've never been I'd like to take in as much as possible! We're in Section 141, home side, not that high, don't remember which seats, sorry. It sounds like it will be a blast, I'll try to make sure we see as much as we can, since I'm not sure if we can get tickets again. I told my husband we had to get to Miami for a game, I'd probably get killed if we went up to New York!;)

Just letting you people know the Chief's game was ALOT more crowded than the Bucs game. We got there 1 hour early and it took about 20 min to get parked in Orange and we made it to our seats in 150 bout 10 min before kickoff. So it took 50 min to get to our seats once we reached to traffic right outside the stadium.

For this game I wouldn't get there any later than 11AM. Just make sure you are well hydrated the day before. That way you can drink beer game day without dying.:beer1:

You sound more knowledgeable than a lot of posters on this site. This is anybody's game. But The Jets will be favored and rightly so. Don't count on the Jets not scoring, that's just delusional. Favre along with Leon Washington, Dustin Keller, Coles, Cotchery, and the new and improved Brad Smith along with Chansi Stuckey, Chris Baker, and Jesse Chatman will score at least 28 points. I don't think the Miami offense can match that.

Thanks guys for all the info. We're coming in on Saturday and checking out the stadium and the area the day before. Since we haven't been before, are there any suggestions about what we can/can't bring in. Just thinking about water and trying to stay cool! I'd like to thank everyone who offered suggestions, since this was my first post it was very nice to have people help out.
