Here's a interesting article on last weeks game....:D

FINS KNEW WHAT BRONCOS "D" WAS DOING

As a follow-up to our Monday night piece regarding the dissatisfaction of some Denver defenders with schemes that they deem to be too simple and predictable, a league source tells us that the Miami Dolphins were able, based on study of past Broncos games, to figure out what the defense was doing on many, if not most, plays.

"They basically use the same defense for every game," said the source. "Same tendencies, etc."

Most teams devise a specific plan for each game, which is intended in part to negate the potential benefits of film study. The idea, obviously, is to confuse or fool the offense on every play.

Instead, the outcome of the team's Week One loss to the Dolphins is making defensive coordinator Larry Coyer look confused, and foolish.

interesting. glad we have some smart people on our side for a change

this article reminds me a bit of when the bucs won the super bowl, although that was to a greater degree...pathetic

Yeah except when you boil down that article its basically just saying that Larry Coyer's schemes are so predictable (sound familiar?) that we were easily able to pick up everything about the D by watching tape. So, the Dolphins didn't know the defensive calls any more than every team that plays the Broncos will know them.

yeah thats true. knowing the spoken word cues and noticing obvious tendencies is a bit differrent

im surprised the fins did so well (in terms of reg. season wins) under wanny considering our predictability on both sides of the ball and this age of game film scrutiny

as a side note, all this film study has hurt a team's ability to create a consistant identity. one week a team will run a hurry up shotgun for most of the game and the next week they power-run the ball

I believe the Broncos underestimated us in terms of our capacity to throw the ball..Their game plan will also be the Jets game which will be 8 man on the box and dare Gussy to pass the ball and shut down the running game.

But the good news is that we have an excelent offensive coordinator and a QB with a gun (accurate or not)...I believe after week 5, no teams will put 8 man in the box because they will be scared of our passing game.

Yep - and then they will have both Ronnie AND Ricky to deal with.

Master of the obvious article.

With a entirely new coaching bring new scheme, there was no film to study.

Other thing, watching preseason games Saban worked on his plays/players/adjustments not really focusing in on winning a preseason game.

Really Saban gave no other teams anything remotely resembling a tendency.

I'm not sure what this means but if you are relentless and dominating you have the correct identity. Then it doesn't matter what formation you line up in. jmo...

I wished we had played the jets for the first game :)

Yeah I'm sure Spragan did have a lot to do with it too.

I've heard the Jets should have more an advantage this week than the Broncos did because they have game film against the Broncos to review Saban's defense, where the Broncos just had preseason film. But, if you listen to the players, we didn't even practically open the playbook all day we just played in our base defense, so not having a ton of film on our D is just an excuse for the Broncos, and having film of us against the Broncos is practically useless for the Jets.
