Dolphins | Lawyer ready to present Williams' appeal Monday
Sat, 8 Apr 2006 21:03:53 -0700
Harvey Fialkov, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports attorney David Cornwell is ready to present Miami Dolphins RB Ricky Williams' appeal Monday, April 10. Cornwell said he has taken on a "substantial number" of NFL player cases after which his clients either didn't face any discipline or received lighter discipline than many expected. It has not been made public what substance caused a positive result for Williams in a December test. "I have two circumstances of unknowing ingestion where we won our appeal," said Cornwell. "The players were notified they had a substance in their bodies. We notified (the NFL Management Council) it was a mistake." Fort Lauderdale attorney Gary Ostrow also has experience with Williams in appeals and doubts Cornwell and Williams will win this one. Williams was unavailable for comment. His agent, Leigh Steinberg, said Williams told him that he hasn't used illegal drugs since deciding to return to football last year.
