Most here are ripping the hell out of our LB's for play and contracts, and are right on 2 of 3, so far.

Ellerbe was the #50 of 55 ranked ILB's last year by PFF, with the NFL ranking him at #3 (wonder what they were smokin). However, in 2012, he was #14 of 53, #18 by NFL, was a big help in winning a SB, and the best GM in the NFL, by most, really wanted to keep him but could not afford to do so.

Wheeler was the #35 of 35 4-3 OLB's by PFF, and #29 by the NFL. However, in 2012, he was #6 of 43, with the NFL having him at #36 (smokin again).

Misi was #14 of 35 4-3 OLB. and #9 by the NFL. In 2012, he was #10 of 43, and #40 by the NFL (smokin).

Misi has been rock solid since he got here. Anyone disagreeing has not watched him play.

On Ellerbe and Wheeler, What The Hell Happened from a year ago? Did they forget how to play or, just maybe, needed time to adapt? We shall see this year but, a little patience may be called for. They have both proven to be able to play well in the NFL but, not last year. JMO

Ellerbe came from a 3-4 so that may have something to do with his struggles. Still, missed tackles have nothing to do with the system and that's what was the most disappointing about Ellerbe and Wheeler. Jordan also seems like a better fit for a 3-4, but I hold out hope that he can still become a dominant player.

At some point, you've got to question the defensive coordinator. Is Coyle the man to get the job done, or should the Dolphins move on if this unit doesn't improve? He's done a nice job seemingly in the secondary but he hasn't gotten enough out of players especially with the linebackers.

most are ripping the hell out of our LBs because they saw them play.

As well they should. I remember doing the same with Burnett. I hated that signing, and he proved me right in being horrible his first year. Then, he completely turned it around in year two, and was VG. He taught me some patience.

Anyone else recall that?

Burnett had a great first year.

No, I don't recall that
I remember
2011...106 tackles--2012...110 tackles

2011...2.5 sacks--2012...2.5 sacks

2011...1 interception--2012...0 interceptions

2011...0 forced fumbles--2012...1 forced fumble

ALMOST THE SAME EXACT STATS...Not sure who you were watching

It may have been him giving up over a 76% completion rate, with 423 YAC's, being bad vs the run, and ranked #42. The number of tackles does not matter much.

First and foremost they were bad. That said....Ellerbe could adjust this year to be an average Mike...but I just dont think the instincts are there to be anything more. He is probably a better fit at OLB. As for Wheeler...he just isnt very good AND we asked him to do ALOT last year by Coyle. Honestly...thats on Coyle. Wheeler is bad...particularly in space....yet how many times did we ask him to cover guys like Sproles, etc out of the backfield. He got abused and missed tackles constantly.
