With every team allowed 30 prospects that can be brought in prior to the draft, Miami seems content with looking in its own backyard.

Any thoughts?

I could be wrong....but isn't there some kind of exception made for bringing in local players where it doesn't count against the limit?

I sure would hope so, because there would be no need to waste a visit on Kyle Wright!

You're right. There's a limit to how many players you can bring in but local players don't count towards that.

I don't think we will be able to get Kenny, but if Campbell falls like some are predicting (I've seen guys predicting 3rd round now even) it would be great if we snagged him.
I think he will be great in the NFL. We should look at his the '06 season as more of what he is capable of. I think a lot of canes started playing unmotivated and lost their drive when the record started going so bad last year.
Somebody will get a steal with Campbell.
Somehow I don't see K. Wright getting drafted at all.
Gooden could be pretty solid in the NFL. (maybe even as a rapper) =)

Hey good for the front office for turning over every stone. Maybe we will find another Bernie Parmalee under one of them! He was a UPS driver before the phins signed him. It would be nice to find a CB or OT that way!

I'm just happy to see Miami looking at the players from the U. It's amazing how much talent the Fins have passed on by not drafting Canes players. The U always has players that are NFL ready. They also play with a lot of heart. I would love to see us trade down and get Phillips. The U has a lot of talent again and I hope the Fins pay attention.

I wouldn't mind picking up Wright in the latter rds. Maybe the compensatory pick in the 6th.

As a Virgnia Tech fan, I hope we do not sign anyone for this years Hurricanes team. Usually I could care less but this year I wasted my energy going to that game. It was cold and boring because the Canes quit playing in the third quarter. Thank God the tailgate was awesome! I know most of you guys are Miami all the way and I understand that but I have a friend who has lived there his entire life and he agrees with me. We dont need any of these Canes. They were horrible. The only Canes athletes that get respect this year are McClinton and King on your Bball team!

true! i'm all about giving players from the U a look. if we got philips with 2a and cambell with 2b, it'd be thrilled.

Ahhhh! Bite your tounge! K.Wright is a disaster waiting to happen in the pros. I'm a U fan and he was mediocre at best at QB for them and always seemed to fold when under pressure. The other guys make at least a little sense, but somehow I get the feeling Wright was a part of this as a favor to someone as he should not be going in the 7 rounds of the 08 draft.

Kyle Wright has all the physical tools to be an outstanding QB. It's all mental with him. I would be completely unopposed to drafting him with a 7th round pick, and seeing if there's any professional coaching that can help him. That's a very low risk, very high reward type situation. Just because he was awful at the U, doesn't mean he can't get better.
I'd love to get Chris Long in the 1st and Kenny Phillips in the 2nd. Kenny's a playmaker, and is one of the few canes worth drafting.
