The Dolphins are 1st on my list. Hard to believe we only have 4 losing seasons since our last SB. It feels like we have had more than that the past 5 years.

Just wondering...what is the most painful moment for you in Dolphins history? I know for me it was the loss to SF following the 1984 season. I had to eat crow after that game! The whole off season I ate crow. Three meals a day...

38. MIAMI DOLPHINS
Last title: 1973 Seasons: 33 Playoffs: 17 Winning seasons: 24 Finals losses: 2 (1)
22: Number of seasons Don Shula coached without winning a Super Bowl again after winning Super Bowl VIII.
1990: The last time the Dolphins won 12 games, meaning … wow, it's been a long time since the Dolphins really mattered, hasn't it?
24 of 33: The Dolphins have obviously been successful without winning it all; in fact, five of those non-winning seasons were .500, so they've had only four losing seasons since their last title.
1: Number of Super Bowls started by both David Woodley and Dan Marino.
P & S rating: 2.70 (five Dan Marinos)

Dan Marino's last game (playoff loss to the Jags) & retirement....that comes to mind first, ...but also Shula's last game, getting killed by the Bills up in Buffalo during a playoff loss.

We have been stuck in mediocrity too long.IMO its better to be bad than mediocre because at least your get a shot at the top picks and make the necessary changes.

Shulas main flaw was that he stuck with assistant coaches too long even after it was apparent they were not up to the job. Also he did not have a good eye for talent.

JJ was not here long enough to make a difference

Wanny kept his job too long because he had a decent but mediocre win record .

I guess the game that disappointed me the most in recent memory was the shellacking we received at Jacksonsville .

The hardest game was back in 81 when we lost the playoff game to SD in overtime....we were down by 24 and we can back with Don Strock to tie it and then we were winning only to see our kicker miss not one but 2 easy field goals and at last they made 1 to win it....a close 2nd was back in 82 when we lost to the skins in the superbowl.....if only Bokamper had made that catch and score we'd have won that game but Joe batted the ball down.

Ozzy rules!!

toss up between the '86 AFC Championship loss to the evil Pats or the '95 divisional Playoff game to the Chargers at San Diego.
I know we would have beaten the Bears in the SB in '86 as we already beat them earlier that season. As for the loss to the Chargers, there is no question that we would have beaten the Steelers afterward in the AFC Champ. game. As for how we would have fared against the 49ers in that year's SB remains a question. But that was Marino's last realistic chance to go to the final dance and possibly win it. They both hurt really bad for a long time.

Every loss to the Jests...and I've seen way too many of them. On a side note, my favorite win was the famous "Marino Fake-Spike" game against the Jests...

Yes...I remember both of the those games. That SD game was a roller-coaster ride for emotions. The hook and lateral was a thing of beauty. Kellen Winslow gave one of the guttiest performances I have ever seen. Only wish it wouldn't of happened on that day.

As for the Skins SB, couldn't have got off to a better start than the Walker KO return for a TD. I thought for sure it was going to be our day. I thought it was AJ Duhe that had the pass batted down by Joe. Would have put us up 24-13 in the 4th quarter as I recall. The other play that comes to mind is Riggins long TD run on 4th and short.

The 86 AFC Championship loss is 2nd on my list. It looked like we were going to make the SB a habit as long as #13 was QB. I watched that game at in-laws. Came over with a case of beer and fully dressed in Dolphins gear (hat, shorts, sweatpants, T-shirt, sweatshirt, wrist bands). In-laws left me alone by the end of the 1st quarter. Mother in-law returned after the game to find me passed out on her couch in my underwear and socks as my Dolphin clothes were thrown about the room.

Actually, the start was a long TD pass from Woodley to Jimmy Cefalo. Nonetheless, it was a game we should have won. That's why that loss hurt. Games we should win but lose because we don't show up to play hurt. If I'm not mistaken we had 1 1st down in the second half....and that was a Woodley scramble. Even with how horrible we were in the second half, we stuill had the lead early in the 4th qtr with a chance to win it. Damn!

Now the SB against the 9ers when we got shellacked 38-16 didn't hurt that much. Just a little. We were manhandled by a much better team and there wasn't a whole bunch we could do. We never had a chance. The 9ers were far superior as an overall team, it wasn't even close. Besides, we all thought that Marino would lead us back many many more times. So that was a nice consolation to ease the pain of the loss.

That 95 playoff game to the Chargers....wasn't that the game when Natrone Means stepped out of bounds near the goal line and it wasn't called by the ref, with the replay showing him step about three feet out inside the ten yard line. Back when the NFL was wishy-washy about instant replay.... Stoyanovich missing the fieldgoal at the end to win it killed me

My Alzheimer's seems to progressing rather well. I do remember that long pass. Was the KO return the beginning of the 2nd half?

As for the 49ers, I thought we had a chance in the 1st half. We had a 10-7 lead in the 1st quarter. When we got two field goals to make it 28-16 at halftime it appeared we might have the momentum going into second half. Of course, it was painfully obvious in the 3rd quarter there was no way we were going to win. My disappointment had more to do with expectations leading to the game. Despite the 49ers only losing one game (by 3 to the Steelers I believe) that year I thought there would be a "perfect" ending to the greatest season a QB or any athlete has ever had by Marino/Miami winning the SB.
