Dolphins making huge strides at practice, with the best session of the season.

"It's easy to see that. There's a difference and you can see the execution, you can see people blocking and you can always hang onto your blocks longer," he said. "But you could just hear it. You can hear these pads, those things popped today and people were hitting each other. It was a spirited practice. To be honest with you the last couple of weeks maybe Wednesday wasn't exactly that way, but for one reason or another today everybody came and was hungry and it was a great practice. I was pretty pumped about that."

Solid practices usually lead to solid performances on Sundays, and those intense practices have to be the norm and not the exception according to Sparano. He pointed out how teams like the Patriots and the New York Giants practice the same way after a win as they do after a loss, which means it shouldn't come as a surprise that these two teams met in last year's Super Bowl.
Hopefully this will continue the rest of the year.

Hopefully, I dont really think that these last 2 loses are such a bad thing. This team is learning how to win together. they just need to be more consistant, and keep there heads on straight for a longer streach of time. Two games isnt long enough.

When Miami lost to Houston with three seconds left in the game, Sparano told his players that the reason they feel as bad as they do is because they got a taste of winning and were starting to grow accustomed to it.

This was the one thing i preached after those two wins.. that it was imperative the team did not do this...

You mean they should grow accustomed to it but not become complacent? If they can't grow accustomed to it, it means we have to lose.

Becoming accustomed to winning is good, it means you're winning!!

They may just be trying to put some more seats in those stands. :d-day:

Growing accustomed to it is fine, but not so much that you EXPECT it, which was the tone I got from the story. When you start expecting to win, almost becoming ****y, and taking your opponents for granted, we start playing games like Houston and Baltimore.

Geez good thing they are finally making strides in practice. It only took until Week 8 to get it going. Good thing the preseason isnt any shorter.

Hey now, use some perspective. Compared to last year the improvement is like night and day around here. It will take some time...

Indeed it will take some time. I know most of you will hate to hear this but Miami is kind of like Buffalo was the previous 2 seasons. Getting better, Winning some games and coaching staff learning on the job. I do think Buffalo is a much better team because they are good in all 3 phases. The Miami Offense needs to get much improved to the point where they don't NEED to count on big plays out of the Wildcat formation. Seems like right now they are in trouble if they don't get a few big plays from it. Once their normal offense can scare people too they will be that much better.

I interpreted this a little differently than you did. I thought the statement from Sparano was a good thing.

I read it more like:

'it's good that you feel bad after a loss. You felt what winning was like and knowing that you could have that feeling just makes the loss hurt that much more.'

I mean....look at last year. Do you think the team felt as bad about some of the losses last year as this team felt after the Texans lost? I doubt it. Last year, some players went out expecting to lose so it wasn't much of a shock. This year....they felt those 2 great wins, then were crushed by the losses.

What it means is that you must be a professional and practice and prepare hard EVERY week ... doesn't matter who the opponent is. There is no such thing as a gimmie in the NFL.

If you don't practice, prepare and follow it up with execution on game day -- you WILL lose.

What scares me is the fact that they mention how the Fins are "getting back to" where they were before. This team (which understandably was devoid of many players from last year) was 1-15 just a year ago and it is wayyyyy to early to start getting accustomed to having a chip on your shoulder, resulting in lackluster performances. They should play intense game in and game out PERIOD!
