“He’s been in all of the meetings this season, except a few when his son got married, and that surprised me,” Doughty said. “He’s dedicated to football and he’s not afraid to speak his mind. His mind is invaluable. I try to pick his brain. He’s very even-keeled. He speaks up. He gives input.”
What does Marino contribute to the meetings? “Mostly things concept-wise and protections and how to simplify stuff, and how to attack certain coverages,” Doughty said.

Barry Jackson: Dan Marino 'Very Much Involved'

Marino is now very much like a coach and has attended nearly every quarterback meeting (with QB coach Bo Hardegree and the quarterbacks) this season. He’s also often on the field during practice but leaves instructions to the coaches.

I think this is pretty interesting, given that we previously heard that Philbin and Lazor did not much care for having Marino 'meddling' in there. More evidence that we are moving in a better direction under the new management and staff.

Edit: Woops, didn't see previously posted thread.

Who better than to ask him for advice. The first quarterback prodigy.

I have noticed Tannehill has been firing the ball into tight spaces more frequently lately.

I'm a huge Marino fan. I've wanted him involved since the day he retired. This sounds like a perfect role. He gets to be the inspiration and voice of experience, while not being required to grind the gameplan stuff or be responsible for players' retention and speedy application.

But rest assured, all of the QB's will be constantly aware of being unprepared when Marino is in the QB room, and they're not going to slack when Marino is watching them practice. Preparation is one of the few advantages teams really get in the NFL, and I'm betting that having Marino in this role ensures maximum preparation from the QB's.

Too bad we can't get Zack Thomas or Jason Taylor into similar roles. Our LB and DL rooms have a few players who could benefit from that kind of focus.

It's a travesty he wasn't allowed in sooner. Maybe thill wouldn't be such a mystery at 28 years old. Philbin needs to stick to janitorial duties forever.

Imagine doughty growing up in Miami being a dolphins fan now getting advice from Marino, good for him.

No clue what effect if any Marinos advice has though.
