“I won’t know,” coach Adam Gase told reporters on Thursday regarding whether Tunsil, who has a shoulder injury, will play. “It’s going to be to the wire.”
Tunsil participated in practice on a limited basis on Thursday.
“We did what we could with him,” Gase said. “We’ve got time. We’ll see what happens. We’ve got to see how he feels.”
Gase, who said he didn’t know the exact details of the injury, said it’s painful for Tunsil. But whether he plays isn’t an issue of pain tolerance.
“It’s more of how much movement does he have?” Gase said. “That’s the hardest thing. . . . If he has to play left tackle, he has to be able to get his hands on guys. You’re getting hit every play. It’s a little bit of everything. It’s movement; it’s mobility. You’re going to have to really play through some uncomfortable circumstances.”

I'm fine with this, let them get 100% for Baltimore.

If Miami's OL can do a decent job against StLouis then honestly SanFran should be no issue.

They ever say what the actual injury was?

Most shoulder injuries usually seem pretty serious but they are making it sound like he could possibly play which I don't believe one bit.

Could've gone 11-5 if this line could stay healthy for 16 games. Tired of the injuries.

From another thread and only speculation.

My guess is it's a pectoral strain. It attaches underneath the humerus and there were two plays in question when Tunsil sprawled out where his left arm was outstretched to provide pass protection before leaving the game.

First part of clip, 2nd qtr, 8:29, 1&10. Second part of clip, 2nd qtr, 7:09, 2&8. An Ajayi run separated the two plays.

agree we don't want to rush anyone back but I didn't think the line played good in LA until the last 2 possessions. They have to be better for a longer stretch of the game. Hopefully the reps, preparation and confidence they obtained from last week.

Adam Beasley‏ @AdamHBeasley
Laremy Tunsil wore a brace on his left bicep-shoulder during practice Thursday.

From the practice update thread so it looks like maybe bicep like Hoops thought are maybe the pec area or some combination. They havent clarified more so coupd be a combo uper body area maybe.

thanks for the update. If he tore his Pec or bicep, he'd be done and we'd know, right?

Honestly I'd say it's his subscapularis before his pec or bicep. They'd use a brace to help stabilize the humerus in the socket AND it would look similar (identical) to a pec strain

Agree, BUT small things in communication of signal words (ex. "Load it" = left slide, "Rocket" = right slide), and head/hand movements to ID blitzes, stunts, pickups, etc. are crucial on the line. Those key issues can provide to be large benefactors in blocking and lack of experience/camaraderie of the same 5 guys playing next to each other can be a hindrance in execution, especially in pass protection where we're a tempting fate in relation to Tannehill's health.

There's also timing issues in silent snap counts. The QB gives the guard the OK, who then taps the center, who then raises his head to signal the start of the snap count. Depending on if it's on 1 or 2 a new center or new lineman may not have the same timing in their head as the guy next to him in coming off the line resulting in false start penalties and the like.

Directly below is an example of that which happened in the first qtr vs the Rams where Tunsil and Bushrod came out of thier stance before Steen snapped the ball on a silent count.

All in all, I'm expecting a victory (isn't that great to finally say) vs the 49ers but there is certainly still a few critical issues to be aware of going into the game.

Don't need a silent count at home
