The Dolphins still have a staff opening for an outside linebackers coach, but that doesn't appear to be a front-burner issue. It's possible but not likely that Nolan would end up coaching that unit, Sparano said.

I think we do need to find someone to fill that spot. It seems they want to take their time and that probably is not a bad idea. They waited a little bit on the Defensive Coordinator position and Nolan fell into their lap. Perhaps an outstanding OLB coach could also fall out of the sky. As Gamble mentioned in another thread, Vic Fangio could become available.

I think the pass rushing specialist/defensive conditioning coach from the Jet's would be good to fill that position. But apparently he is taking the Defensive Line Coach Position with the University of Tennessee. The Jets have also lost 4 other Coordinators but none that could fill that position.

most important position in the 3-4. definitely need a coach for that unit. no rush though.

I'm sure they'll fill the spot after the Senior Bowl. Pees has been named Ravens' LBs coach, so Fangio might be free.

they shouldnt get one, cause things only get more complicated when you add all these differ opinions and ideas.....gets messy

Haha you're right. In fact, we should fire everyone from Ireland, Sparano, on down, so that no one disagrees with Parcells and we don't have any clashing.

Or, perhaps we can fire Parcells too and leave it up to Stephen Ross.

I'm not of fan of having too many assistants, but if we don't find an OLB coach I'm sure Sheridan would be fine coaching both. He coached in a 3-4 at Michigan, and also coached the DL there, and I believe he coached safeties in the past so it's not like he only knows LB

Our ILBs need a boat load of coaching (well, new personnel, really) and our OLBs have very different and specific tasks in our scheme. I am not content with Sheridan doing both jobs, and it's obvious that by his title, he will not be. It's clear to me that the hiring of an OLBs coach is simply on hold due to Senior Bowl duties.

"it is possible but not likely..." :chuckle:

That's funny, you can say just about anything is 'possible but not likely'...

Why do people put any weight in articles like this?

What do those guys get paid to put that drivel out. The only thing more annoying is when they go on TV and pretend...
